Golden Bachelorette premiere: Who did Joan Vasos send home?

Joan Vasos prepared for her second try for true love on Wednesday night.

The first Golden Bachelorette dubbed herself “the luckiest person in the world” on the show’s Sept. 18 premiere as she accepted the lead role three years after her husband passed away from pancreatic cancer.

Among the most memorable lovers’ moments… Choc brought over some chicken noodle soup; Kim arrived in her Navy uniform; and Jack sang a version of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” to his potential future wife.

“It’s a crazy journey, but people find love in a lot of different ways,” Joan told her group of contestants inside the mansion. “Like, I don’t know if I’m naïve or not, but I think this could really work out, so I can’t wait to start this journey.”

(Joan, of course, is naïve. This never works. Just ask the latest Bachelorette, Jane Tran.)

The men then stepped forward and made their case to the Golden Bachelorette.

For example, Pascal told her, “When I found out it was you, I was 100 percent on board.” “If it wasn’t for you, Joan, I wouldn’t be here today. I just want to let you know that.”

Meanwhile, Greg and Joan dressed up in Hawaiian shirts and enjoyed tropical cocktails while Gil played tee ball with them and Charles K. and Joan raced around in motorized chairs.

“I want to talk to her all night,” Charles K. told the camera.

Another boyfriend said she had been electrocuted and needed 12 minutes of CPR to regain consciousness, while another cooked a meal for Joan and yet another wrote a poem for her.

Joan Vasos played cornhole with Keith and immediately felt a connection.

We have so many things in common,” she said. “It’s exciting. I can imagine being with him.”

Then she gave her ambitious husband her first impressive rose.

“This trip has been scary and you make me feel safe,” Joan told Keith. “Your voice is so calm and you’re just like a big teddy bear. I don’t know, I just like it.”

At the rose ceremony, where Joan told her friends she was “dreading this moment.”

“If you go, you’ve already won,” he said. “You’re here and you’ve shown the world that you have heart and you have a sense of adventure and you’re looking for love and you’re doing that in your golden years. And you’re a great example for everyone.”

In the end, the Vasos gave roses to Dan, Jonathan, Mark, Guy, Charles K., Gil, Gary, Pascal, Chock, Kim, Christopher, Greg, Charles L., Jordan, Bob, Michael, and Jack.

From there, previews for the rest of the season include Joan saying “I love you” to Mark, as well as Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner returning to ask her out:

“Have you considered the possibility that your man isn’t here?”
