Former WWE official disagrees with Gunther’s latest challenger

SmackDown star Gunther is the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion. The Ring General has brought prestige to the workhorse title throughout his reign, which will span the year after WrestleMania 39.

Ahead of the Show of Shows, the 35-year-old found himself a new challenger at Madcap Moss. Moss won a Fatal-4-Way match with Karrion Kross, Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio, pinning the latter.

Former WWE official Jimmy Korderas is not a fan of this creative decision. Speaking in rant reffinHe stated that any of the other three contenders would have evoked emotion compared to Madcap Moss, who has not appeared as a credible Superstar on WWE TV:

“A lot of it has to do with the fact that it hasn’t been on TV. It hasn’t been animated, so people don’t really know what to expect,” Korderas said. “We’ll probably get a decent match because GUNTHER, in my honest opinion, will help elevate Madcap Moss.” […] In my opinion, I don’t think there was the interest that you might have had with any other of the three contenders.”

in today’s #ReffinRant at SD Fri we had a 4 way match to see who would take on IC this week in SD and the crowd was absolutely 😐 for the winner. Spoken volumes. #Stay safe https://t.co/57EZikQoeV

It makes sense that viewers wouldn’t see Madcap Moss shock The Ring General in their impending title clash taking place on the road to WrestleMania.

Who will the WWE Intercontinental Champion face at WrestleMania 39?

The Ring General is rumored to take on two former world champions on the biggest stage of them all.

It was previously reported that Drew McIntyre and Sheamus could be looking to challenge Gunther at SoFi Stadium for the latter’s Intercontinental Championship. While this is a strong possibility, Brock Lesnar simply cannot be ruled out as a potential opponent for Gunther on the Show of Shows.

Following their matchup at the Royal Rumble, the WWE Universe went into a frenzy. Rumors for months were that The Beast and The Ring General would face off in Inglewood, CA. However, a recent report debunked them.

The third episode ending the feud between Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar is likely to take place at Elimination Chamber on February 18 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Perhaps the company is looking to misdirect fans by going ahead with this blockbuster match for WrestleMania 39.
