Indian veteran Amit Mishra feels that KL Rahul should avoid all talk about his batting and try to concentrate on how he can improve as a batsman.
The opener is under some pressure and even ex-cricketers like Venkatesh Prasad have criticized him time and again for his repeated failures. Rahul has also been stripped of the vice-captaincy for the last two Trials of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
In an exclusive chat with Sportskeeda On the sidelines of the JioCinema CricStream presentation, here is what Amit Mishra had to say about whether a short break could help KL Rahul:
“It differs from player to player. As much as I have seen him practice with me, he works very hard on his game. I would advise him to focus on the cricket and not on what is said. He has worked hard in the past.” He’s 4-5 years old and he’s earned his place on the team, so I think he needs to continue to focus on his process and also tune out when necessary. He just needs to go to every netting session and decide to improve his hitting by 2-4 percent. .”
There is an opinion that KL Rahul has an excellent overseas test record. But the statistics speak otherwise. He has a Test average of 30 abroad in 56 innings. He scored 6 centuries abroad, but followed up with a series of low scores, which is why he has an average of 30. Let’s look at some others. https://t.co/MAvHM01TcY
Amit Mishra on Ravi Bishnoi’s action
Amit Mishra has been signed by Lucknow Supergiants in the 2023 IPL season and this could be a great opportunity for youngster Ravi Bishnoi to improve his wrist-spinning skills.
Bishnoi, who was part of the reserves in India’s 2022 T20 World Cup squad, has suddenly disappeared from the selectors’ plans. Here is what Mishra had to say about the changes the young bowler needs to make to his bowling game:
“The action of the wrist spinners depends on many factors such as arm speed. I feel like Bishnoi might need to change up his action a bit if he wants to add more options to his bowling game than the standard googly ball. You need to be prepared and of course I’ll try to contact him when we meet at LSG camp and do my best to help him get those variations.”

Amit Mishra also spoke about the importance of wrist turners not getting defensive when hit for a run. He added:
“Cricket has now changed a lot and sometimes spinners tend to get defensive in their bowling. At such times it is important to back up your strength and also work on adding more skills to your repertoire. That requires guidance. properly and I will definitely try my best to pass the information on to Bishnoi.”
It will be interesting to see if KL Rahul and Ravi Bishnoi expect a strong IPL 2023 season as both need consistent performances to gain confidence.
