Fans have mixed reactions as Darren Till hints at boxing after quitting UFC

Fans have mixed reactions about Darren Till’s possible transition to professional boxing.

After confirming that he was released from his UFC contract, ‘The Gorilla’ teased his next move by posting boxing glove emojis on Twitter. As a result, some fans supported the possibility, while others questioned Till’s decision:

“you’re not a draw little brother”

“take that bag sir”

“Good luck in whatever you do mate, I will miss your fights in the UFC”

@darrentill2 Good luck in whatever you do mate, I will miss your fights in the UFC

“That’s dissappointing.”

β€œNo takedown defense so he had to run away”

Till wouldn’t be the first fighter to leave the UFC in hopes of a bigger payday in professional boxing. Francis Ngannou and Nate Diaz have recently shown an interest in boxing after parting ways with the UFC. Meanwhile, Mike Perry and John Dodson have been thriving hand in hand since their departure.

Darren Till teases a future return to the UFC

The MMA community made assumptions about Darren Till when he was delisted from the UFC. Some questioned whether his recent fall led to his being cut. It turns out that Till requested to be released from his contract. ‘The Gorilla’ explained the situation and teased a possible return to the UFC on Twitter by saying:

β€œWhat’s going on, everyone Dana, Hunter and I are still great. I asked UFC 2 to just take 2 off me to order some other shit for the foreseeable. They happily agreed to release me from the contract, which I appreciate. I’m not going anywhere, I have big plans to execute and I’ll be back.”

Till signed with the UFC in 2015 as a promising prospect with a 12-0 record. The Liverpool native had massive support from his home country, making him a must-see fighter after a few UFC fights. He won his promotional debut against Wendell Oliveira before his second fight ended in a majority draw against Nicolas Darby.

‘The Gorilla’ bounced back from the draw with four straight wins, earning a welterweight title shot against Tyron Woodley. He ended up being introduced by Woodley and then slowed down with losses against Jorge Masvidal, Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson and Dricus Du Plessis. Till’s last win was a split decision against Kelvin Gastelum in November 2019.

What’s going on with everyone? Dana, Hunter and I are still fucking cool. I asked UFC 2 to take me off just to fix other shit for the foreseeable. They happily agreed to release me from the contract, which I appreciate. I’m not going anywhere. I have big plans to execute and I will be back. 🦍
