Expected return and injury timeline

Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks received some good news Monday night as he will not be missing for an extended period of time following a positive report on his wrist injury. Antetokounmpo injured his wrist during the Bucks’ win against the Chicago Bulls before All-Star weekend in 2023.

An injury to Giannis Antetokounmpo could have put the Bucks in a difficult position heading into the second half of the season. Now, it is expected that he will only miss a few games and can return once his wrist is free of pain. This is a huge sigh of relief for the Bucks as they have championship aspirations.

Giannis Antetokounmpo injury update

Milwaukee currently sits second in the Eastern Conference, just 0.5 games behind the first-place Boston Celtics. In terms of an overall NBA record, the Bucks are just 0.5 games away from that as well. They have won 12 straight games and Giannis has been one of the main reasons.

Since taking a few days off to deal with his knee injury a couple of weeks ago, he’s put up incredible numbers. That includes a stretch of 36, 35, 38, 24, 54, 34 and 50 points in eight straight games. Not only was he doing what he normally does on the offensive end of basketball, but he was rebounding at a ridiculous level and is averaging 12.2 boards per game this season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks will see how he feels over the next few days as the team plays its first game after the All-Star break on Friday night against the Miami Heat. Considering Giannis might not play in this one, that 12-game winning streak is in jeopardy. At this point though, the Bucks are more than okay with losing a game if it means Giannis will be healthy when it matters most and that’s in the playoffs, which are closer than they seem.
