Diddy arrested in wake of scandalous sex trafficking trial

Sean “Diddy” Combs is in major legal trouble.

The rapper and businessman was arrested at a Manhattan hotel on Monday, September 16, after being indicted by a grand jury.

According to TMZ, Homeland Security agents raided the premises and possibly searched Did’s room, and took the celebrity into custody based on a sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York.

We expect to have more details regarding the specific charges on Tuesday.

“This evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.

“We hope to unseale the indictment by the morning and we will have more to say at that time.”

Diddy’s home was raided by authorities in March.

Federal agents raided two properties owned by the controversial musician … who has been accused of sexual assault and sex trafficking by multiple alleged victims.

For example, ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura has said Diddy raped her in 2018.

In May, CNN obtained surveillance footage from 2016 that showed Diddy grabbing Cassie outside of an elevator … throwing her to the ground … and kicking her multiple times.

Combs responded on Instagram at the time, saying, “It’s so hard to reflect on the worst time of my life.”

“Sometimes you have to do that. I was very upset. I mean, I went through a very bad time, but I can’t make any excuses. My behavior in that video is inexcusable.”

“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.”

Although it is not yet clear what charges Diddy, 54, faces, his attorney Marc Agnifilo said he expects legal action.

“He voluntarily moved to New York last week in anticipation of these charges,” the lawyer said in a statement to E! News.

“Please reserve your judgment until you have all of the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide, and he is eager to clear his name in court.”

On June 7, Howard University, a historically black college and university, rescinded the rapper’s honorary degree in the wake of multiple hate allegations against him.

Three days later, New York City Mayor Eric Adams requested the musician return the key to the city.

Most recently, Diddy was ordered to pay $100 million in a civil lawsuit filed by a Michigan inmate who accused him of sexual assault.

“We are disappointed by the decision to conduct what we believe is an unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Agnifilo said late Monday.

“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, loving his children and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect man, but he is not a criminal.”

“To Mr. Combs’ credit, he has been cooperative with this investigation and voluntarily moved to New York last week in anticipation of these charges…”

“These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide, and he is eager to clear his name in court.”
