Conor McGregor recently expressed his excitement for the upcoming rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. Many in the combat sports community, including McGregor, are eager to find out which of the two will prevail in their long-awaited heavyweight clash.
Fury is set to challenge Usyk for the WBC, WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles in a rematch this weekend at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. Ahead of their fight, Saudi General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Alalshikh, known for providing fans with spectacular boxing contests in the past, took to X and launched the Usyk vs. Fury.
McGregor, an avid boxing fan, reposted Alalshikh’s X post, showing his excitement for the Usyk-Fury showdown. He wrote:
”Very excited for this rematch for all the heavyweight marbles in the world! Come on! #RiyadhSeason @Turki_alalshikh @Tyson_Fury @usykaa”

Fury was knocked down in the ninth round of his first title unification fight earlier this year, marking the beginning of his downfall. After 12 rounds of intense action, Usyk was declared the undisputed heavyweight champion after winning by split decision. This marked the Briton’s only defeat in his professional boxing career.
Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999. However, the Ukrainian was forced to relinquish the IBF title after failing to face the required challenger, then interim champion Daniel Dubois, who subsequently defeated former champion Anthony Joshua in September to become the new IBF champion.
As for McGregor, his last MMA outing was against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021, where he broke his leg in the first round. The Irishman was set to return at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler, however a toe injury forced him to withdraw from welterweight competition.

Last month, Conor McGregor found himself in serious trouble after a civil court found him liable for assaulting Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in 2018. As a result, the court ordered McGregor to pay more than $250,000 in compensation. This led to him receiving a lot of criticism from the entire MMA community.
Despite the legal problems, McGregor’s fiancée, Dee Devlin, stood by him and expressed her support for her long-term partner. This was portrayed in his most recent Instagram post, which shows Devlin having a great time with McGregor. She wrote:
