He died twelve years after the death of his famous daughter, Cissy Houston.
Cissy Houston, mother of the late Whitney Houston and an accomplished singer herself, died at her home in New Jersey on Monday, October 7.
She was 91 years old.
His family confirmed the news, as well as his cause of death, in a touching tribute, which they shared with the press.

Although she spawned one of the most iconic superstar performers of all time, Sissi was also an accomplished artist herself.
Aunt of singers Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick, Cissy began her singing career in 1938 when she joined a group called the Drunkard Four with her sister Anne and two brothers Larry and Nicky.

The same can’t be said about their daughter Whitney, who was found dead in a bathtub at the Beverly Hills Hotel the night before the Grammys.

Three years later, Whitney’s only daughter and Sissy’s granddaughter, Bobbi Kristina, was found face down in the bathtub of her home in Atlanta.
