Catelynn Lowell: My daughter’s adoptive parents have broken up with me!

Catelynn Lowell is opening up about something very personal and painful.

On Monday, the Teen Mom alum told social media followers that she and her husband, Tyler, have lost contact with their daughter Carly, a 14-year-old they gave up for adoption in 2009.

As you can imagine, Caitlyn is also very unhappy with this turn of events.

“Adoption is crazy,” Kaitlyn wrote on her Instagram Story on September 9, and offered an explanation, saying:

“I’ve been blocked for sending updates and pictures of her sisters… How is that fair to Carly and her siblings?”

MTV viewers got to know Carly and how Catelynn and Tyler came to the decision to leave her when we met the reality stars on 16 and Pregnant.

The couple had the chance to reunite with Carly on an episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter last summer, and for this special occasion, they brought along their three other kids (Novellie, 9, Vaeda, 5, and Rhea, 2).

But things have taken an unfortunate turn since then.

In this latest post, Lowell said she was “deeply sad” about the broken relationship, though her focus was primarily on the kids involved.

“When you’re the biological mother you have no say … no control,” Kaitlyn said. “All I can do is show Carly in the future how much I tried and continue to do so … she can make her own decision about who excludes whom.”

Lowell also tried to clarify that she wasn’t trying to “take on” Carly’s adoptive parents with her message.

“I’m really just sharing my feelings, not calling them any hurtful names or anything,” she said. Though there’s a clear indication that Lowell thinks the unnamed mother and father are making the wrong decision here.

It’s a disappointing situation, especially when you consider how positively Catelynn has spoken about Carly’s adoptive parents in the past.

Kaitlyn said this time, “I think at the end of the day her parents felt scared/intimidated because Carly would ask them questions about why we don’t get together anymore, why we can’t go to her for the weekend, etc.”

“I will always support Carly having her loving parents. They love her and nurture her! But the fact that they keep us away doesn’t help Carly.”

As for Tyler, he fully supports his wife expressing her feelings about her adoption experience.

“Most people will never know what it’s like to raise, nurture, love and treasure a beautiful, perfect innocence like your own child … only to have to painfully relinquish that natural bond with another and do what you know you can’t do for the sake of your child,” the reality star said in May.
