We’re a week away from Donald Trump’s second inauguration.
The former and future president will make history by becoming the second person in American history to serve two consecutive terms in the White House.
We probably don’t need to tell you that these are contentious times in America, or that Trump remains a highly divisive figure. But regardless of your feelings ahead of January 20th, at least we can all agree that the entertainment will be top notch.
Carrie Underwood to sing ‘America the Beautiful’ at Trump’s inauguration
Yes, she may be married to a Canadian hockey player, but in all other respects, Carrie Underwood is as American as they come.
And today it was revealed that the Muskogee, Oklahoma native will be playing at least one patriotic tune on Trump’s inauguration day.
According to a new report from Page Six, Carey will sing “America the Beautiful” with accompaniment from the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
Trump’s team has not yet made any official announcement regarding the day’s entertainment.
But reporter Matthew Foldy tweeted a leaked copy of the event, which shows Kerry performing just before Trump and incoming Vice President J.D. Vance take the oath of office.
Obviously, it’s a big day for both of them, but it may also be the highlight of Carey’s long and illustrious career.
Of course, this journey has brought him many high points: winning American IdolChosen to sing the Sunday Night Football theme song, and became the most awarded country music artist of all time.
a historic occasion
But singing at a presidential inauguration is one of those things that puts an artist in the history books.
Heck, it’s been over a decade, but people still talk about “The Star-Spangled Banner” performed by Beyoncé at President Obama’s second inauguration.
Will Carrey’s performance prove to be equally enduring? only time will tell.
But whatever happens, millions of people will watch it live next Monday.
