Bruce Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa reveals she has blood cancer


Bruce Springsteen’s wife and longtime bandmate Patti Scialfa is suffering from a rare form of blood cancer.

This news comes via a new documentary titled Rock Diaries: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street BandWhich premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last week.

His illness forced him to step away from Bruce’s current tour, which begins in 2023 and runs through 2025.

“It affects my immune system, so I have to be careful about what I do and where I go,” she said in the document.

“Occasionally I’ll come to a show or two and sing a few songs on stage, and it’s a treat for me. It’s the new normal for me right now, and I’m okay with it.”

The news comes after a 2023 interview in which Scialfa claimed she was stepping away from the band to spend more time with her first grandchild.

“And the main thing was I had a record that I couldn’t finish while Bruce was at home because he’s in the studio all the time. So I took that opportunity to make my own record.”

Bruce has also dealt with his own health problems

Bruce, 74, has postponed several dates on his current tour because of his own health issues.

In September 2023, the rock icon was diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease.

In May, he rescheduled several shows in Europe due to “vocal problems”.

Bruce and Patty have not provided any update on her condition following TIFF’s revelations.

In a year when so many celebrities are battling cancer, Patty didn’t have to look further for encouraging examples of resilience and recovery.

And we know he has the full support of millions of E Street Band fans.
