Brittany Mahomes is a Trump supporter. That much is clear.
Over the summer, it felt like Britney was doing everything she could to make sure the internet knew she was supporting the GOP candidate for president in 2024.
This is certainly a huge endorsement, but it puts him at odds with those closest to him.
No, we’re not talking about her husband, Patrick Mahomes — though that’s an issue, too.
Frankly, we’re more interested in his friendship with Taylor Swift. Could Britney being a Trumper end their friendship? That’s what it looked like for the Chiefs in the first game of the season.
Brittany Mahomes endorses Trump for president and wants you to know this
Let’s start from the beginning.
In late August, Britney “liked” an Instagram post from a convicted felon … in which Trump outlined the Republican Party’s platform for the 2024 election.
According to the social media message, this platform included deporting “pro-Hamas radicals” and “keeping men out of women’s sports”.
At last count, the post had over 400,000 likes.
Britney, who is pregnant with her third child, immediately faced a lot of criticism for showing support for Trump’s polarizing agenda.
“Patrick Mahomes, imagine marrying someone who doesn’t care about you or your children’s rights. Brittany Mahomes agrees with Project 2025 but marrying a black man with mixed kids is crazy,” wrote one social media user after seeing Brittany’s apparent Trump support.
Brittany Mahomes hits out at those who support Trump
But ever the outspoken one, she didn’t sit back and take it. She hit out at the “haters” who questioned her social media activity.
In response to the political criticism, Britney shared a post on her Instagram Story that read, “To be a hater as an adult, you must have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.”
He added: “There’s no reason why your brain is fully developed and you don’t like to see others do well.”
So, to sum it up: Haters are gonna hate, and Britney is not denying that she supports Trump. That became abundantly clear a few days later.
But then why back down? Why put forward your opinion, defend your right to choice and then back down.
Britney Doubles Down
Eventually, Britney took back liking Trump’s Instagram post. This led many to speculate that perhaps it was all fabricated to grab headlines.
That is, until a few days later. When a harmless post on his own Instagram account promoting the new Kansas City Chiefs merchandise from the Abercrombie & Fitch line sparked an uproar in his comments section.
There was a clear divide between those who pushed the Harris/Walz ticket in front of them and those who stood by their decision to vote for Trump.
“Glad to see you’re not backing down. We all have a right to our opinions and shouldn’t try to force our way,” one comment read – seemingly referencing the criticism she faced for liking a Trump post last week.
Mahomes liked the comment in response, but quickly deleted it. TMZ,
Trump thanks Britney for her support
Days later, Britney was defended for her actions by the one person who could have made the situation worse: Donald Trump himself.
“I want to thank the beautiful Brittany Mahomes for defending me so strongly,” the former president wrote on Truth Social.
He made a lot of noise about our country heading toward “destruction” and spewed his usual, fearful rhetoric, then praised Britt. “It’s nice to see someone who loves our country, and wants to save it from destruction. What a great couple — see you both at the Super Bowl!”
Patrick Mahomes doesn’t agree with his wife
Could this be a bad thing for her husband, who is clearly supporting Kamala Harris?
Patrick made headlines in April when he declined to endorse anyone in this year’s election.
“I don’t want to pressure anybody to vote for a particular president,” Patrick Mahomes said. Time The magazine instead encouraged fans to “use their voices” and do their own research on then-candidates Joe Biden and Trump.
Then again, he might be worried about another relationship.
Taylor keeps her distance from Brittany in Chiefs’ season opener
After Britney’s comments sparked an uproar online, fans were glued to their phones on Sept. 5 to see two things:
One – will Taylor be there to watch the Chiefs’ season opener? And two – will she sit alongside Brittany, as she often did last year.
Answer: Yes, she attended the big game with a big smile and a lot of energy, but no, she did not sit with Brittany! In fact, the WAGs of the most important Chiefs players were actually seated in two separate suites. Taylor spent the evening with Travis’ parents, while Brittany sat comfortably with her daughter Sterling.
The moment shocked many people, and it raised the question…
Will Brittany Mahomes’ support of Trump end her friendship with Taylor Swift?
Now, if you weren’t a Chiefs fan before Tevis was born, you probably don’t know much about Brittany.
But then Taylor Swift started dating Travis Kelce … and attending his football games … and sitting in various luxury suites with Britney … and now Mahomes has earned a reputation and a certain celebrity status as the superstar singer’s friend.
The two have gotten really close over the past year. They often sit together at games, and Taylor has even invited him over for girls nights with her best friends like Selena Gomez and Blake Lively.
But modern politics has a way of creating rifts between even the closest of friends. While Taylor has yet to announce her support for Kamala, it seems like it’s a given, especially for most fans.
Swifties for Kamala, a fan-run organization that has yet to be endorsed by Taylor, has become such a big moment that they managed to bring Carole King to their virtual rally and raised $142,000 for the VP.
Then there’s the fact that Taylor lent her support to Kamala and Joe Biden during the 2020 election.
“I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election,” she said at the time. “I believe that under their leadership, America has a chance to begin the process of reform it so desperately needs.”
She said the ticket focuses on issues that are important to her. “The change we need most is electing a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women have the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community has the right to be recognized and included.”
If she still feels the same way — and we all know she does — then it’s a given that she’ll support Kamala.
Britney and Taylor: Will they work it out?
But will this end her friendship with Britney?
To be honest, not really.
For one thing, as the Chiefs’ top two WAGs, it wouldn’t be wise for either of them to clash before the season starts. Patrick and Travis can’t afford to be such a distraction.
But on the other hand, literally two weeks ago, both Patrick and Brittany were spotted at Taylor’s house in Rhode Island, where they were enjoying the last moments of summer before real life resumes.
And then, there’s this little tidbit Britney posted right after Trump thanked her for her support.
“Contrary to the trend in today’s world, you can disagree with someone and still love them. You can have different opinions and still be kind,” he wrote on social media.
