According to Tuttomercatoweb, Barcelona are eyeing a move for former Real Madrid superstar Ángel Di María this summer. Di María currently plays for Serie A giants Juventus. However, Juve recently received a 15-point penalty after being found guilty in the surplus value case.
It looks like the Old Lady will miss out on European football next season. Therefore, the situation could force several big names to leave the club, including Di María.
The Argentine forward signed for Turin from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the summer 2022 transfer window. Since then, he has made 19 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and providing six assists.

Barcelona, for its part, already has players of the stature of Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha in its ranks. However, they lack any real backup options, as neither Ferran Torres nor Ansu Fati have satisfied the Camp Nou faithful with their latest performances.
Di María, a FIFA World Cup and Copa América winner, would be a great addition to Xavi’s squad. He also has extensive experience in Spanish soccer with Barca’s arch-rivals, Real Madrid. Di María made 190 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos during his time in the Spanish capital, scoring 36 goals and providing 85 assists.
Real Madrid is five points behind league leaders Barcelona
Real Madrid moved within five points of league leaders Barcelona with their win against Osasuna. Fede Valverde and Marco Asensio were the scorers for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
Los Blancos currently have 51 points from 22 games and are five points behind Barca with one game remaining.
The young Álvaro Rodríguez impressed with his performance against Osasuna. As a result, he earned Ancelotti’s applause. Speaking after the match, the Italian coach said (via Los Blancos’ official website):
“He is a player with so many attributes: he is tall, formidable in the air, he moves the ball well… He can offer us something like what he did today. It is not easy for a youngster to arrive at Real Madrid and be focused on the game.
“He made the difference in ten minutes because he gave two assists, one to Vini Jr. and another to Asensio. I’m sure he’s going to help us this season. I have to talk to Raúl about his future, but he is a player we are going to use.”
Meanwhile, Barca will take the field later tonight when Xavi’s team take on Cádiz in a La Liga home game. A win would extend their lead to eight points at the top of La Liga.
