Are Jana and Jill friends again?
In August, Jana Duggar married Stephen Wissmann without much public notice. Sister Jill Duggar attended the wedding despite being estranged from some of her family members.
But attending a wedding doesn’t always mean everything is okay, especially when the guest list is close to 500.
What’s the situation between Jana and Jill Duggar these days?
What is the situation between Jana Duggar and Jill Duggar?
On August 15, Jana Duggar married Stephen Wissman.
Longtime Duggar watchers (not all of whom are “fans”) nearly wrote off Jana, wondering if a man consistent with the family’s fundamentalist creed would marry a woman as “old” as the 34-year-old eldest daughter.
But Jana clearly broke several Duggar rules. She and Stephen were engaged. And they seemed extremely familiar with each other before their wedding. Even her wedding dress was different from Creed’s.
This is relevant because Jana has long been the obedient and overbearing eldest daughter. She was completely under Jim Bob’s control, she didn’t even get married – as many believed – because Jim Bob and Michelle demanded that she continue to take care of the kids.
Now? Now fans are wondering if Jana’s penchant for breaking rules is bringing her closer to Jill.
After all, Jill has been the “black sheep” of the sisters for years. Perhaps Jana is starting to understand what it’s like to be independent (relatively) and that’s helping her understand why Jill has separated herself from Jim Bob’s control.
Which siblings stay away from Jill Duggar? Has Jana changed her tune?
In her memoir, Jill doesn’t specify who in her toxic family completely distances themselves from her.
Recently, people on Reddit discussed whether the newly “independent” Jana might feel more open to interacting with Jill.
Maybe she didn’t understand Jill before – but she does now.
Commenters were quick to point out that one theory is that Jana stayed with the family for two reasons: Josh Duggar and the kids.
Thankfully, Josh keeps losing his appeals. Maybe for some reason Jana had to wait until he was scheduled to serve a prison sentence.
Plus, she’s been taking care of her younger siblings all her life. Now, they’re all grown up, and Jana’s time as an involuntary mom may be coming to an end.
However, there is another theory
One commenter even said that Jana Duggar was telling the truth. She didn’t think she had found the right life partner before Stephen Wissman (this time). She has been making her own choices for years, including when to be single and when to get married.
If that’s the case, then the rift between him and Jill will probably never end. “I don’t think a new brother-sister relationship will magically emerge because of marriage,” the Redditor wrote.
That being said, many of the siblings may have sympathy for Jill. Of course, not Josh, but many do. Many commenters pointed out that whoever is keeping Jill away may have no choice – not wanting to incur Jim Bob’s wrath.
