Andy Cohen is looking straight ahead.
With a big smile on his face.
As previously reported, Bravo will be bringing Vanderpump Rules back for season 12 — with one big change.
It will have a completely new cast.
According to a recent press release, Lisa Vanderpump will soon lead “a new group of united Sur-verses who are as intricately intertwined with each other as their iconic predecessors” in an upcoming episode of the beloved franchise.
Production on the new season will begin next year and the premiere date and cast will be confirmed at a later date.
“How thrilling it is to recreate and build on the legacy of this series,” executive producer Alex Baskin said in a statement late last month.
“With a deep appreciation for the original group and their iconic performances, we can’t wait for audiences to see a dynamic new group of colleagues and friends make their way in life together.”
How does Cohen feel about this significant change?
“Bravo announced, or the news broke, that they were revamping the show and I have to say, first of all, it’s the perfect thing to do,” the host and executive said during the December 2 episode of his SiriusXM show. ” ,
“I’m very impressed with how the production kept the show going for the last, I would say four years, when slowly but surely none of them were working out of tune.”
Cohen criticized the storylines that were emphasized over the past few seasons.
“As the show went on, the whole point of it changed and it turned out that James Kennedy was the only person with any kind of footprint at SUR, because he used to DJ there sometimes and now he’s gone and They’ve got a residency in Vegas and they’re having great success and they’re all having good success out of tune,” Cohen explained.
Vanderpump Rules debuted in 2013 as a spinoff of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and then grew into its own fairly popular franchise.
The show hit its pop culture peak in Season 10 when we learned that Taylor cheated on Ariana Madix with her good friend and co-worker Rachel Lewis.
At present it is known almost only for this scam.
The series originally followed Vanderpump and the then-current staff of her restaurant Sur (Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney, Tom Sandoval, Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor and Stassi Schroeder) as they attempted to resolve professional and personal conflicts.
Over the years, the cast of Vanderpump Rules has grown to include Tom Schwartz, Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, Lala Kent, Brittany Cartwright, and many more.
“Vanderpump Rules, you will always be that girl,” Maddix said in a statement after the reboot news was announced. “I stayed up until 4 in the morning looking for all the right pictures and the right words, but there was no post or caption that could sum it all up.
“I am forever grateful to have been a part of such an incredible cultural phenomenon…
“Special thanks to the fans. You have been consistent over the last decade, your love and support is the thing I will miss most about it being over. You’ve shown it for what it is. To the fans who have been there for us, old and new, it’s all because of you that we are here. Closing this chapter I feel at peace and excited for everything to come. I don’t know that these were the best days of our lives, but they were definitely something special.
Jax Taylor added on social media:
“Vanderpump Rules will always be a part of my heart. From starting out as a crazy group of friends working together to make ends meet, to becoming such an iconic series and pop culture phenomenon…so many memories, both good and bad.
“Many highs, probably more lows…but I’m so grateful to work with such an incredibly talented team @thealexbaskin @evolutionusa @nbcuniversal. It’s not goodbye…more like…see you soon…on my show – but for real this time.”
And Lala Kent:
“It’s no secret that I don’t like change. This is the exception. I want to say thank you for rocking with us for so many years. This show changed my whole life. I am incredibly grateful for every moment. I’m incredibly grateful for Bravo, for NBCU, for our crew, for the entire cast, and most importantly for all of you.
“We rocked this bitch until the wheels fell off.”
