Over the past several days, Andi Dorfman has had a reason to celebrate — and then a reason to be very concerned.
First, the former Bachelorette lead gave birth to her and husband Blaine Hart’s first child on December 20, announcing their daughter’s blessed arrival via Instagram at the time:
“28 hours of labor later and we’re officially a party of three.”
Then, Dorfman was admitted to the hospital.
Less than a week after giving birth, Dorfman had surgery to remove hematomas… or collections of blood that had formed outside of blood vessels.
“Okay, we’re back! This time for mom,” the reality star wrote on her Instagram Stories on Dec. 27, elaborating in more detail:
“After reaching home, I was having a lot of pain and it was getting worse by the day.
“Despite being told on the internet that it would take time to recover, I still felt something was wrong and finally after trying every home remedy, I called my doctors and they asked me to come immediately.”
The 37-year-old further said:
“Turns out I had one large and one small hematoma that was causing the pain. Within a few hours, we were at the hospital and ready for surgery.
“A pretty straightforward process but having a 6 day old baby is still pretty scary (plus a lot of hormones still lurking around).”
Yes, definitely. We can’t even imagine.
A brand new parent, Dorfman admitted she felt “some guilt” about the anxiety. Self Instead of her daughter, “But I realized that if I’m not good, she’s not good either.”
And the ABC personality came with a valuable lesson for others, too.
She added, “It doesn’t matter how ignorant you are about motherhood.”
“You still know your body best! listen to it! Yes, recovery is hard and everyone is different but your instincts are valid (and probably even right).
Previously, Dorfman and Hart introduced their daughter along with her name on Dec. 22 with an adorable family photo.
“Introducing…Harper Bell Hart. Our sweet girl came into this world weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces and was 20.5 inches long like her daddy!” they wrote in a joint Instagram post.
“We love her more than we could have ever imagined. I cry right there seeing her and dad is completely wrapped around her cute little finger…
“Thank you for all the wonderful wishes you have sent and a huge thank you to our daughter for making us the most emotional, proud, happy parents ever! This is truly the best gift we have ever received.”
