Amy Duggar is proving once again that she has no interest in adhering to the strict code of conduct practiced by her overbearing uncle Jim Bob.
For years, Amy’s image has been that of the resident rebel of TV’s most famous radical family.
And these days – perhaps inspired by the example set by her rebellious cousins – she is moving ahead at an unprecedented pace.
Amy Duggar makes her own rules
Even during the Duggars’ heyday as reality stars, Amy had a habit of rolling her eyes at Jim Bob’s nonsense and doing her own thing.
Following the Josh Duggar sex scandal and the family’s downfall, Amy has become a vocal critic of her infamous uncle.
Along with her cousin Jill, Amy was one of only two Duggars to appear in the controversial Amazon Prime documentary shiny Happy People,
In the film, he opens up about the pain he felt watching his cousins grow up in such a dictatorial environment.
But Amy’s rebellion isn’t just limited to remembering her painful past.
Sometimes, she likes to celebrate her independence from Jim Bob by indulging in the pleasures he strictly forbids her from doing!
Amy enjoys ‘hot tub date’ with husband, posts photos on Instagram
Earlier this week, Amy posted some Instagram photos that Jim Bob would definitely love No approve of.
“I wasn’t sad… turns out I just needed a hot tub date night [with] My Taz!” Amy captioned the post.
You’re probably familiar with the Duggar dress code, which requires girls and women to dress “modestly” at all times.
Well, Amy’s bikini probably doesn’t meet the requirements.
And then there’s the fact that she and her husband, Dillon King, are drinking champagne in the photos.
Alcohol is strictly prohibited in Jim Bob’s world, and he was reportedly not happy when he found out his daughter Jill had started drinking.
Of course, this was before Jill published a memoir in which she detailed some of the more difficult aspects of growing up in such a strict family.
Amy is currently writing her memoirs. And Jim Bob is probably not excited about this project.
Maybe he feels like the cousins are working together against him. But the more likely explanation is that they both independently realized that they can’t be happy if they continue to follow the ridiculous rules JB has set for them.
Amy and Jill probably have no personal conflicts with Jim Bob. In fact, Jill has said she wants to mend her relationship with her father.
But both women will likely continue to live lives on their own terms and tell their stories as they see fit.
And Jim Bob would undoubtedly view these actions as an attack on his values and beliefs.
