“Ridiculously clutch all season” “Saved the title”

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale earned applause for his final save down the stretch during the Premier League away clash against Liverpool on Sunday 9 April. The match at Anfield ended in a 2-2 draw.

Just when it looked as if Mohamed Salah might have found the winner in stoppage time, Ramsdale pulled off a magnificent save to deny the Egyptian.

Goals in the first half from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli gave the Gunners a healthy two-goal cushion. Salah pulled one back for the Merseysiders in the 42nd minute.

The prolific Egyptian, however, missed a penalty in the second half. Roberto Firmino finally restored parity with his goal in the 87th minute of the game.

Salah nearly gave Liverpool the lead for the first time in the match as his late effort was deflected. Ramsdale, however, produced a fingertip save to deny the attacker.

The Englishman has been reliable between the sticks so far this season. In 33 games, he has managed to keep 13 clean sheets.

Fans on Twitter praised his performance against the Reds. A fan wrote:

“If Arsenal win the league, it’s thanks to Aaron Ramsdale. He held ridiculously all season…”

Another fan wrote:

Aaron Ramsdale is the reason we’re not out of the title race. They should have won, I’m catching my breath man

If Arsenal win the league, it’s thanks to Aaron Ramsdale. Ridiculously clutch all season.

🧤 This is Ramsdale’s stop of the season. The lack of respect towards this goalkeeper is outrageous, truly elite. https://t.co/WByaBy2hf4

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard praised Aaron Ramsdale

Speaking to the media after the vibrant Premier League clash, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard praised Aaron Ramsdale for his spectacular performance.

The Norwegian attacking midfielder said (via football.london):

“It was a crazy game. We started very well. The first 40 minutes before they scored we controlled the game. After their goal, the game changed a bit and we couldn’t keep the ball.”

added:

“They created a lot of chances. Aaron [Ramsdale] He was very good back there and he saved us. Frustrated that we didn’t win, but we have to take the point and move on. Against this team you have to be very good with the ball. If you give away the ball, they will run towards you and the fans will build momentum.”

The Gunners will face West Ham United next Sunday, April 16, in a Premier League away game.
