Former Cowboys star refuses to put faith in Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy – “That’s a problem”

The Dallas Cowboys had another lackluster season in 2022, as they were one of the better teams on paper heading into the season.

Quarterback Dak Prescott broke his thumb in the season opener and missed a good portion of the season early on. Despite being without Prescott early in the season, the Cowboys finished the season 12-5. This was good enough for second place in the NFC East and a wild card playoff berth.

They defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the playoffs, but fell short of the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.

Heading into the 2023-2024 season, they will be without veteran running back and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Former Dallas DL Chris Canty doesn’t have much faith in Prescott and McCarthy going into this season. He questioned whether Prescott could thrive without Elliott and Moore as part of his offense.

“We haven’t seen Dak Prescott succeed without Ezekiel Elliott in his prime and/or Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator. I have a hard time putting a lot of faith in a guy who has had 32 turnovers in 28 games in the last two years.” it’s a problem.

“The other problem you’re going to deal with is Mike McCarthy taking more control of this offense for a head coach who has had the most penalized team in all of football the last two years.”

Prescott led the league in interceptions (15) despite missing five games.

Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and the team mutually agreed to part ways with Moore to join the Los Angeles Chargers.

Mike McCarthy became the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for the 2020 season.

They missed the postseason in their first year going 6-10. Over the past two seasons, he has led them to a 12-5 record.

In 2021, they were unique as they were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers in the wild card round. A year later, they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round, but lost again to the 49ers, this time in the Divisional round.

McCarthy has a career playoff record of 11-10 while going 1-2 with the franchise.
