Demi Lovato offers support to fellow trans, non-binary Americans in wake of Trump’s inauguration

Demi Lovato is sharing a message of hope and encouragement.

As a nonbinary and pansexual American, she knows how millions of people are feeling in the wake of Trump’s inauguration.

Demi knows how other people are feeling because she feels the same way.

Many of his followers need a positive message right now. When things seem hopeless, it is more important than ever to have hope.

In 2025 and beyond, Demi Lovato is supporting the trans community

Demi shared a message on her Instagram Story after Donald Trump took office again.

“If you’re trans or nonbinary like me, please know that I see you, I feel you,” she began. “I am with you.”

Demi continued by affirming: “You are valid, you are loved, and you are not alone.”

Trump issued an executive order that works to roll back rights for transgender Americans. The goal is to erase the legal recognition of the trans community and erase trans individuals everywhere from legal documentation to anti-discrimination protections and beyond.

“Nobody can take away our identity,” Demi Lovato confirmed in her post. “And no one can tell us who we are or are not.”

He then encouraged followers: “We will get through this. I love you.”

In 2021, Demi Lovato came out as nonbinary

Demi got caught up in an ill-advised engagement in 2020. She later admitted that this also hindered her self-discovery journey on topics such as gender.

A year later, in May 2021, she was ready to come out as nonbinary.

Non-binary people like Demi are part of the transgender group. Simply put, a person who is non-binary does not meet the narrow scope of the gender binary that has been dominant in many major cultures in recent centuries.

Although Demi initially used they/them pronouns, they also use she/her pronouns.

As he later explained, he found it “tedious” to try to educate people about something as simple as pronoun adjustment.

In many ways, Demi Lovato will face the same legal hurdles as other trans Americans as her own government works to deny millions of Americans their basic rights and dignity. For example, the same restrictions will apply to Demi’s passport and other documents.

However, as advocacy groups advise the trans community to exercise caution now that Trump has taken back power, not everything will apply to Demi. That is one enby Adequate financial resources.

Many of us would do well to provide financial assistance to anyone who, without federal protection, suddenly has to flee their home state for a state that supports their legal rights. We hope Demi continues to help her community whenever she can. Solid support matters.
