Ariana Grande vs. Carrie Underwood wasn’t on our 2025 bingo card, but we’ll take it!
Infamously, the country singer agreed to sing at Trump’s inauguration.
While this wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened on Monday, it also did not go according to plan. Underwood finished singing a cappella.
And it appears that one of the greatest voices on the planet is keeping him from doing less impressive work.
When Carrie Underwood sang ‘America the Beautiful’, she sang a cappella
In a moment that seemed like heavy symbolism for Donald Trump’s return to power, music to America the Beautiful Didn’t play.
Carrie Underwood sang the song using only her voice (and a microphone), improvising an a cappella performance when it was clear the equipment would not recover quickly.
The inauguration was attended by many political figures, including (now former) Vice President Kamala Harris. And some people on social media believed (or simply offered their opinions) that they did not find Underwood’s presentation impressive.
“Kamala Harris remembers Coco Montres (“Girl, find the note”) after seeing Carrie Underwood at today’s spectacular inauguration,” Instagram user @evanrosskatz captioned a post.
Coco Montres is a hugely famous drag performer, and the quote of note is from right here RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 2. Katie Post is cashing in on Carrie Underwood’s singing.
Social media users immediately noticed that Ariana Grande had “liked” the post. (we are here THG Would like to note that Ariana has since revoked the “like” after receiving attention, although her brother’s like still remains)
Was Ariana Grande indirectly insulting Carrie Underwood?
The post itself was not a shadow, but a direct Reading – That is to say, an insult to Carrie Underwood.
However, Like A post falls into a gray area (sometimes). It’s also possible to accidentally double-tap an Instagram photo. Additionally, some people use social media likes as a bookmark function – to come back to later.
Most of the time, obviously, a “like” is close enough to an endorsement that celebrities become aware that their like may turn out to be a scam. Has the same happened here also?
Comment after comment on a post that didn’t mention Ariana at all, like, “Ariana liked this.”
Many of these included laughter or praise for Grande. Others insulted Carrie Underwood.
However, other commentators took out the “regardless of politics” card to appreciate Underwood’s a cappella rendition. America the Beautiful,
Some praised her voice, while others acknowledged that she gave a good effort under less than ideal circumstances.
Did he really do something very bad?
Music is subjective. He is also a singer. there are people who think so Ariana Grande She doesn’t have an amazing singing voice. (Of course, they’re wrong, but that’s beside the point)
The real issue is that this isn’t really about whether or not Carrie Underwood did a “good job” or what Ariana Grande thinks about her singing. It probably has more to do with people expressing hatred towards him and other artists who agreed to play at Trump’s inauguration.
That doesn’t mean it’s an unfair criticism of Underwood’s performance. it is not mentioned ethics Arguably more than vocal range or staying on-key. But we can admit that this conversation was never about a country singer’s voice.
