Kate Middleton opens up about chemo port implants: ‘I got hooked’

Last September, Kate Middleton announced that she had completed chemotherapy.

Naturally, fans of the Princess of Wales were happy, but Kate’s husband, Prince William, cautioned that she still has a “long way to go” in her recovery.

Kate spent most of 2024 battling an undiagnosed form of cancer, and earlier this week, she revealed that she is now in remission.

It may have taken some time before she was ready to discuss the full story, but now, Kate is offering new details about the fight of her life.

Kate’s surprise visit

On Tuesday Kate visited the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she received treatment during her illness.

The Princess of Wales met patients and doctors, and later the same day, Kate and Will revealed they would become royal patrons of the hospital and research centre.

At first, there was little information about the topics of Kate’s conversations. But according to a new report daily MailThe future queen displayed her famous sense of humor while discussing her health issues.

Kate talks openly about chemo

Speaking to a cancer patient named Katherine Fields, Kate opened up about a previously unknown aspect of her treatment. It seems that at one point, Kate was fitted with a device called a chemo port.

“I got so attached to it,” Kate joked, that at one point the staff had to inform her, “‘You can have it taken out.'”

The terminology used by Kate may not be familiar to those who have never had chemotherapy.

The Cleveland Clinic describes a chemo port as “a small, implanted device that is attached to a vein (usually in your upper chest area). It allows healthcare providers to draw blood and deliver treatments – including Chemotherapy medications are also included – a port may remain in place for weeks, months or even years without a needle.”

Looks like Kate has deleted it. And this is another reassuring sign that he is making progress and is ready to return to normal.

After staying away from public life for most of 2024, Kate has made several appearances in recent months.

But it seems Marsden’s journey was the most personal of them all.

While speaking to a patient, Kate reportedly commented on the close friendship between those who are undergoing chemo at the same time.

“I had to do it privately and quietly but being on the ward like this is reassuring in a way,” he said.

“Everyone told me, please keep a positive mindset, it makes a big difference,” he said.

And now, Kate is making a difference in a big way.
