Seth Meyers is the target of a very unstable man.
Ahead of the solemn inauguration on January 20, much of America is dreading the horrors of the next several years.
But even before disgraced former President Donald Trump takes office again, he is taking advantage of the threat of retaliation against his critics and perceived enemies.
He’s specifically taking aim at late-night host Seth Meyers in his latest social media screed.
Donald Trump is attacking Seth Meyers while threatening Comcast.
On Monday, January 13, Trump took aim at Seth Meyers by calling him “Marble Mouth Meyers” on his ridiculously named Truth social media platform. Not his best work.
He branded the comedian and late-night host “dumb and talentless” and labeled him “merely a slot filler for the scum who runs Comcast.” Comcast is the parent company of NBC.
“These people should pay a lot of money for the right to make ‘in-kind’ contributions to the radical left Democrat Party,” Trump said. (In particular, referring to the Democratic Party as the “Democrat” Party is a deliberately political dog whistleAnd not just a sign of Trump’s cognitive decline)
“This is not a show or entertainment,” Trump complained. late night with seth meyers And similar talk shows.
“For me and the Republican Party they are just political hits 100% of the time,” he alleged.
Threatening to financially punish companies that platform his critics, Trump ominously added: “Comcast should pay a big price for this!”
During his “A Closer Look” segment, Seth Meyers discussed the feud between two of the alt-right’s most twisted personalities: Steve Bannon and Elon Musk. This is a real alien vs. predator situation for several reasons.
Why is Trump so angry at Seth Meyers?
Seth Meyers, like more or less everyone else, has been roasting Donald Trump for years. His political journey began almost a decade ago as a sick joke. Now, this is our scary reality.
This has given Meyers plenty of time to work on his Trump impression. (It was actually pretty terrible in 2017 and has improved significantly, but we wish it were in better conditions)
The timing of Trump’s social media outburst appears to coincide with new information about US special counsel Jack Smith’s damning filing with the Justice Department.
Smith’s filing found what we all knew – that Donald Trump engaged in criminal behavior in his effort to overturn the 2020 US election. Among other things, he “incited his supporters to commit acts of physical violence” in the attack against the United States Capitol on January 6.
Trump previously claimed Comcast should be investigated for “treason.” Which is a strange accusation, especially coming from him.
“They are almost all dishonest and corrupt, but Comcast, with its one-sided and vicious coverage by NBC News and especially MSNBC, which is often and correctly referred to as the MSDNC (Democrat National Committee!), is the country’s ‘Should be investigated for treason threats,’ he wrote on September 24, 2024.
Why is he going after TV networks and late-night shows?
We are not psychologists and certainly not experts on frontal lobe atrophy. However, beyond that, we can make reasonable guesses about Donald Trump’s motivation for going after Seth Meyers.
At his core, Trump can’t tolerate criticism. It is a hallmark of fascist regimes throughout history, including those he openly admires, that the free press must be targeted. (Some compare Trump’s aspirations to Orbán or Putin, but he certainly wants to look similar to India’s Prime Minister, Modi.)
Additionally, Trump and his ilk, such as Elon Musk and others, do not respond well to ridicule. They love it when people tell them how dangerous they are. But when he is portrayed accurately as the Joker, it often leads to criticism on social media. This is just one example among so many.
