Alec Baldwin has filed a lawsuit against the prosecutor who chased him to court War Tragedy.
In July, the judge dismissed Baldwin’s murder case with prejudice, meaning the prosecution cannot be re-filed.
The special prosecutor insisted on appealing the verdict, continuing that fight until the end of December. It didn’t work; judges do No Like when you commit a Brady violation.
It was a strange prosecution. And, according to Baldwin’s newly filed lawsuit, it was Intentionally Malicious.
Alec Baldwin is suing special prosecutor Kari Morrissey and others
In his civil lawsuit, Alec Baldwin is accusing multiple prosecutors and investigators of malicious prosecution and civil rights violations.
They filed the lawsuit in Santa Fe state district court on Thursday, January 9. They specifically named Special Prosecutor Kari Morrissey, Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altweiss and three investigators from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and the county Board of Commissioners.
Additionally, his suit also includes defamation allegations. He accused prosecutors and investigators of deliberately mishandling evidence while pursuing the case against him.
Baldwin’s lawsuit alleges, “Defendants sought to scapegoat Baldwin at every turn for the actions and omissions of others, without regard to evidence or the law.”
The filing also accuses prosecutors and investigators of targeting the actor for professional or political gain.
A celebrity like Alec Baldwin could be a target for ambitious prosecutors who want to win re-election or become famous. And, because of his popular perceptions of disgraced former and future President Donald Trump. Saturday night LiveBaldwin is definitely a target Fixed A taste of political strangeness.
Some believe that prosecutors have distracted attention from the tragedy of Halina Hutchins’ death.
We must all remember that it began with a senseless tragedy. In October 2021, cinematographer Halina Hutchins died after being shot during rehearsals for the film, War,
Alec Baldwin was both the lead actor and co-producer of the film. For his role, he held a revolver – which he says fired without pulling the trigger.
Things like this can happen on a film set, but a sequence of safety measures should fail catastrophically. Exactly the same thing happened in this case.
We’re sure Baldwin would have liked to have been acquitted. Ultimately, most people would prefer a court’s verdict without question that they are innocent – that a co-worker’s horrific death was a tragic accident, and not their fault.
The case did not end like this. Instead, the court learned that a man had brought ammunition to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office in March of that year – saying it might be related to Hutchins’ death.
Prosecutors never informed Baldwin’s team about this new evidence. Baldwin’s lawyers said that investigators “buried” the evidence in another case folder to hide it from them. This is a classic Brady violation, and the judge dismissed the case with prejudice.
Will Alec Baldwin win his lawsuit?
Frankly, it’s hard to say — just hours after the lawsuit was filed — whether Baldwin will win. But civil rights advocates on social media have suggested it’s a good idea.
Look, A Very People dislike Alec Baldwin. From the voicemail he left for his daughter years ago to his behavior in the work environment, he has given people some good reasons. But it’s hard to see how this kind of props tragedy makes him killer,
We do not claim to magically know the motives of everyone involved in our prosecution. But there were red flags long before the court uncovered the Brady disclosure violations. We’re not legal scholars, but at least some parts of the lawsuit may have merit.
