U.S. stocks looked poised to fall in a thin session on Monday, as lingering concerns about high interest rates and the government’s growing debt burden ruined any chance of a year-end party for markets.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 86 points, or 0.2%. Futures tracking the benchmark S&P 500 index and contracts linked to the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 also fell 0.2%.
Investors are still worried that the Federal Reserve will not cut interest rates as much as they expected in 2025, as inflation still drifts away from the central bank’s 2% target.
