We have an update on Christine Brown suing her ex-husband for child support.
In September, we reported that a 52-year-old woman had filed legal documents against the Sister Wives leader, asking a court to establish paternity of her 14-year-old daughter because Kody Brown’s name is not on her birth certificate. Is.
Additionally, Christine has requested a domestic relations injunction barring both parties from harassment, domestic violence, canceling or modifying services, taking the children on non-routine visits without court orders or permission, and the other party. Prevents demeaning or humiliating.
Meanwhile, last Wednesday, the former lovers met in court (via Zoom) for a hearing regarding the case.
According to court documents obtained by our friends at Ashley’s Realty Roundup, both parties completed their disclosures for the case at that time and the now-deposed people were ordered to attend a mediation conference scheduled for May 21, 2025 Is.
Now, this is where it gets interesting…
The court apparently classified Cody and Christine’s case as Track 3 status, which is an assignment reserved for “significant custody disputes.”
Consider the following section from the Utah State Courts website,
This category includes cases involving significant custody disputes, including custody disputes involving allegations of child abuse or domestic violence. For a Track 3 case, the court and the parties will address the following at the case management conference:
1) Whether a custody evaluation is necessary, and, if so, the nature of the evaluation and consideration of placement; and 2) whether the appointment of a private guardian is necessary, and if so, the scope of the appointment and the division of costs.
To be clear, we are not legal experts.
As far as we understand, no allegations of child abuse or domestic violence have been made.
Rather, because Christine and Cody’s marriage was not legal in nature and because Cody is not listed on the above birth certificate… Christine cannot make any legally binding requests without this lawsuit/process.
After Christine moved on from Cody in November 2021, Truly moved from Arizona to Utah with her mother.
In our opinion it seems as if Christine really wants to force Kody to leave his house to see his daughter… more No Due to any parental obligations on his part he was forced to send the teenager to Arizona.
Kody and Christine also have children Mykelti, Aspin, Gwendlyn, Ysabel and Payden; However, only True is a minor.
“When I lived in Flagstaff, I firmly believed that moving to Utah was the best choice for me and Truly,” Christine explained during a previous episode of Sister Wives.
“I knew I was really taking her father away. I thought the best way to preserve Truly’s relationship with Cody was to take her away from him…
“I took their relationship when it was still good and I picked it up and I moved it. And then whenever we get back into town, I pick it up again and take it back.
Kody does not appear to be particularly close to his children.
When 25-year-old son Garrison committed suicide last March, the 17-year-old father was not even talking to his son Garrison.
Kody also debunked his ex-wife’s reasoning behind moving in with his teen via Sister Wives Confessions last fall.
“For Christine to think that she’s taking my relationship with Truly away from me and is just ‘protecting’ her — that’s BS rationalization,” Kody said on air, addressing the issue. Insisting that the situation was “ridiculous”.
He has not yet responded publicly to Christine’s recent lawsuit.
