James Kennedy has broken his silence.
As readers probably know at this point, the Vanderpump Rules alum was arrested on domestic violence charges this month.
According to various reports, Kennedy had an argument with an unidentified woman (believed to be girlfriend Allie Luber) the previous week and he grabbed her arm during the disagreement.
Details are still scarce, but it is believed that Kennedy was detained at his residence in Los Angeles.
As of December 17, we had only heard from Kenny’s lawyers, who had stated just days earlier:
“We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations made against James by the Burbank Police Department.
“We understand that there were no injuries and we are hopeful that, after careful review, city attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.”
Meanwhile, on his Instagram Stories yesterday, Kennedy finally addressed the alleged incident himself — and how he’s doing at the moment.
“I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life,” the 32-year-old wrote. “I’m taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being there for my loved ones.”
Kennedy thanked his loved ones for being there for him and said:
“Dealing with challenging moments is not easy but I am determined to learn, grow and move forward with the incredible support system around me.”
Based on police records obtained by People Magazine, a woman reportedly told the Burbank Police Department several days earlier that “her boyfriend had picked her up and thrown her to the ground.”
From what we can gather, Leuber has moved out of the couple’s shared home.
“Thank you to everyone who has shown love and support and reached out to me,” Leuber wrote on social media Sunday.
“I am fine and taking the time I need right now. I deeply appreciate all kindness and respect for my privacy during this time.
To be clear, neither Kennedy nor Leuber have confirmed anything about the speculation about what happened that led to Kennedy’s arrest.
Kennedy joined Vanderpump Rules in 2015 when he was a setter at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR.
Over the years, he often clashed with his co-stars because of his relationship with alcohol.
In 2020, Kennedy celebrated one year of sobriety after several attempts to eliminate alcohol from his life.
“Quitting drinking was the best decision I ever made and I’m going strong. I don’t miss drinking…I don’t miss that feeling…. I’m so grateful for everything now and life has become more beautiful in many ways,” she captioned an Instagram post in July that year.
“Thank you to my rock @raquelleviss for getting me here my love, I couldn’t have done it without you. And thank you all for your support this past year.”
