There was a little fight on ‘The View’

As a panelist of Scene While discussing the dire political horrors to come over the next several years, one topic was education. One part of the multifaceted conservative war on education has been school vouchers.

Co-host Sunny Hostin began citing statistics and studies from these programs.

This is arguably not the most important aspect of the voucher – which effectively loses money. Real Trying to work around the school district and the First Amendment. But the statistics on who “benefits” from these programs are worth noting.

“What happens with vouchers, studies show very clearly, is that they fund students who are already attending private schools,” Sunny said.

“So people with money get those vouchers, use those vouchers to pay less for their private schools, and their kids do well,” she explained.

Referring to the lack of already funded public schools, Sunny said: “Where do you get the money for those vouchers? You suck money out of those poor schools.”

Then Alyssa Farah jumped

Instead of waiting for Sunny to finish citing statistics from voucher programs, Alyssa Farah interrupted Sunny. But he did so without success.

Alyssa insisted, “Let me come in to make it a conversation.” This did not benefit him, so he changed his strategy.

Alyssa explained that she herself had attended public school, recalling that Sunny had gone to private school. (Just a reminder that people may have childhood experiences that they believe should not be universal – and vouchers are about who pays for someone to go to private school, No referendum on private schools)

An angry Whoopi Goldberg said, “Nobody can understand what’s being said here right now.”

As Alyssa and Sunny continued, Whoopi announced that they were going to take a break – as in, a break for commercials. That’s because “nobody can hear what anybody is saying.”

She insisted sternly: “No. There is no final word being said here right now.”

Is the fight on ‘The View’ that serious?

Joy Behar and Sara Haines watched with obvious amusement as Whoopi brought her classmates to heel. Whoopi simply told the audience that they would “be right back.”

Immediately social media users started discussing this incident. Many people made comparisons between Elisa and Elisa Scene Opponent Meghan McCain.

We have to disagree there. Maybe Alyssa was interrupting (well, she was Definitely interrupting), but she didn’t get angry or say “Ugh!” Didn’t speak. While other panelists spoke. It was an interruption, not a tantrum. Whoopi still brought the hammer down to end the fight in the bud.
