The video helped set up Gere’s entire segment. But the clip also cut off just before Gere’s character waved his middle finger – showing the actor gesturing in the studio.
“You made an obscene gesture on this family morning show!” Savannah Guthrie exclaimed.
Hastily picking up a stack of papers to hide her fingers, she joked: “I’m calling you!”
Guthrie also recalled the previous day’s mistake: “You know, Cher was making F-bombs in here yesterday so I don’t know what’s going on!”

“You didn’t show but that’s what I did in this piece!” Richard Gere was quick to explain. “That was the clip!”
Guthrie countered, “That was the clip but we cut that part out.” “But then you did it live!”

Many people find themselves uttering words or making gestures in scenes along with the characters on the screen. One has to imagine that the impulse is even stronger for the actor who appears on screen.
Agency is an American adaptation of The BureauWhich is a French espionage thriller. It stars Michael Fassbender in the lead role, who is a secret agent of the CIA. The story is based in the agency’s London office.
Other members of the cast include Jeffrey Wright, Katherine Waterston, Jodie Turner-Smith, Dominic West and Hugh Bonneville.
‘Agency’ was an easy sell
Richard Gere shared that he and his wife Alejandra Silva watched it The Bureau Before the American adaptation came to them.
Notably, this is Gere’s first appearance in a TV series. “We shot it like a movie,” he said candidly admiringly. “That’s the way we do it. Movie directors, movie actors, schedules are like movie schedules. I think so too.”
