‘RHOBH’ Is Woke, According to Camilla Grammer, Who Also Thinks That’s a Bad Thing

Camille Grammer was mayor fury Star for the first couple of seasons. Her role was reduced to “Friends” for Seasons 3, 8, and 9 and she was a mere guest for Seasons 5, 6, 7, 10, and 13.

In that time, she went from being the wife of (now ex) Kelsey Grammer to a series villain. A memorable, oft-remembered dancing villain, though.

“Excited about what [the] Upcoming season of #RHOBH?” Camille asked her fans and followers. “Second question. Does anyone feel the franchise has become too self-conscious?”

Complaints about “woke” and “DEI” have grown worryingly consistent in recent years. Often, they are euphemisms intended to conceal outright bigotry. For example, Internet trolls will complain about a show’s “walk cast” when they simply mean that an actor is black.

It’s possible that Camille was referring to the increase of women of color among the Real Housewives cast. However, someone expressing this complaint could be complaining about LGBTQ+ housewives, about inclusive discussions, or much more. And Camille doesn’t seem ready to explain.

What does ‘woke’ mean to Camille Grammar?

Several replies asked Camille Grammer what exactly she meant by suggesting that RHOBH and other Real Housewives shows have become “too woke.”

He repeatedly refused to define “woke” and asked commentators for their definitions. Camille also refused to explain how someone could possibly be “extremely” awakened.

Just for the record, woke is not a new word. It refers to an awareness of systemic inequities, especially in the context of racism, and a desire to amend injustices in our society. It is only in recent years that right-wing grifters have popularized the term as a derogatory term, but the actual meaning remains unchanged.

It is not clear how someone can be “too” aware of systemic inequities. Generally, claims that something is “too woke” are either false or complaints about something else.

For example, if someone says they are “too woke” and think certain subgenres of romantic fiction should be banned, they are not woke at all. There are book bans and censorship of art, human sexuality and human expression. Antonym To wake up.

Sometimes, a show can feel like it is dabbling too much into sensitive topics, appearing “preachy” in a way that some viewers find inauthentic. It’s not like that awareness As a problem, in itself. Camille Grammer may be suggesting that fury It’s giving off vibes.

Wait, was it about Annemire Willie?

Earlier in 2024, Annemarie Wiley raised the alarm when an artist made a caricature of her. The Daily BeasThe T reported on art, which seemed to have exaggerated features.

Annemarie Wiley felt the caricature was racist. He expressed as much on social media.

Was Camille talking about her when she asked if the show had “got too dirty?” Probably not. But Annemarie spoke out anyway… with a bad twist.

When Camille Grammer asked if RHOBH has become “too woke,” Annemarie Wiley took the question personally… but also argued that it somehow has. It is unclear whether transphobia was the real reason why she did not return for the second season. (Image credit: Twitter)

In her own reply, Annemarie Wiley felt that “my edits were accompanied by character assassination and sabotage and then being fired.” Oh no! Why?

According to him, this was due to his “belief that biological males should not compete in women’s sports.”

If that line is confusing, transphobes often use “biological men” as a meaningless label for transgender women. This way, they pretend that they are not labeling trans women as “men”. Sometimes, people who say things like this will insist that they are not bigots towards transgender people, which is an interesting claim.

Can ‘RHOBH’ or any show about rich people be ‘woke’ at all? Perhaps

Economic injustice is certainly a form of systemic inequality. Plus, rich people can educate themselves about racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and more.

Truth be told, most of the things that people refer to as “too woke” as an insult are simply matters of common sense. Discrimination and bigotry are bad. Sometimes it takes a while to explain if something is outside one’s experience, but if one real housewives It’s great that Ryuyun can explain the harms of police violence and reach some people through the screen. (Especially since fewer and fewer schools are allowed to teach these subjects)

we won’t worry fury Or any other show in the franchise becoming “too woke”. At the end of the day, these are shows about badly behaved rich women who are extremely dirty and trying to cash in on their fame.
