(Reuters) – Democratic congressman Rubén Gallego won the United States Senate elections in Arizona, Projected Edison Research late on Monday, keeping in the hands of his party the seat currently occupied independent.
Gallego, 44, is a veteran combat of the US Marines Corps for the Senate seat in a key state.
Gallego ran on a platform focused on gun control and immigration, both hot topics in the border state.
Lake, a former journalist, is a strident supporter of Donald Trump’s false statements that his 2020 defeat was the result of generalized fraud. She mounted an unsuccessful run for governor of Arizona in 2022.
