With a heavy heart Simon Cowell is sharing his shock and sadness at the passing of Liam Payne.
Simon Cowell’s initial reaction to the tragic and unexpected death of Liam Payne was not a public statement.
Like everyone else, he was still processing, hoping for answers, and putting his thoughts together.
Now, the man who helped bring One Direction together in the first place has released his official statement.
Two days after the unexpected death of Liam Payne, Simon Cowell has published a response
“You never really know how you feel about someone until that moment comes,” she began an Instagram post on Friday, October 18.
Simon Cowell said, “Liam, I’m really devastated.” “Heartbroken. And I feel empty.”:
He confirmed: “And I want you to know how much love and respect I have for you. Every tear I shed is a memory of you.
“I wanted to tell you what I always say to the thousands of people who always ask me. “How is Liam?” Simon Cowell continued his words towards the late Liam Payne.
“And I would tell them that you were kind, funny, sweet, thoughtful, talented, humble, focused,” he shared. His post continued: “And how much you loved the music. And how much love you really have for the fans.”
It’s been years since Simon Cowell became the manager of Liam Payne (and One Direction as a whole). But she revealed that she and Liam had only seen each other last year, “not to meet up” but “just to sit and talk.”

Simon Cowell reflected on that one-on-one, saying, “I missed all the fun times we had together.” “And how proud you are to be a father.”
His tribute said: “After you left, I remembered that you were still the same sweet, kind boy I met all those years ago.”
Simon Cowell, who initially had to tell 14-year-old Liam Payne it was “not his time” for stardom, has met the late singer’s 7-year-old son, Bear. “He has that smile you have and that twinkle in his eyes that you have. And he’ll be very proud of what you accomplished. And how did you achieve it.
Simon Cowell expressed, “I always thought of the five of you in the band as brothers,” referring to Liam Payne’s former bandmates: Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.
“And,” he added, “reading their messages today, I believe you were.”
That line is referring to the tribute to Liam Payne that his former One Direction bandmates have shared following his passing.
Simon Cowell wrote a very thoughtful tribute
“And now Liam, I can see the impact you’ve had on so many people,” he confirmed. “Because you left us too soon.”
