One Direction star Liam Payne’s former fiancee Maya Henry is speaking out in the wake of the singer’s tragic death.
As you may have heard by now, Liam died on Wednesday after falling from a hotel room balcony in Argentina.
The case is still being investigated, and it is too early to determine whether the fall was intentional or not.
Liam’s personal pain
But many people who knew Liam say he had struggled with mental health issues in recent years.
In fact, earlier this week, Maya appeared on a podcast to reveal that the singer often talked about his death.
“Ever since we broke up he’s been messaging me all the time [saying]’Oh, I’m not okay,'” she alleged while appearing on “The Internet Is Dead.”
“He was always playing with death and being like, ‘Well, I’m going to die. I’m not doing well.'”
Maya described this move as a “manipulative tactic” to make her feel bad about their breakup.

He further added, “Once I tried to get help from him and then he was not taking help.”
“He would send messages to my mom saying, ‘I’m not doing well, Maya contact me,’ because I wouldn’t respond. It’s always the same cycle.”
Maya revealed that in February Liam called his mother and said, “I won’t be around much longer.”
“I don’t play with death. If you say so, I’ll try to help you, no matter what you do. I think he took advantage of my family’s kindness,” Maya said of that moment.
“He would always just say, ‘I’m so sorry for what I’ve done. I can’t live with myself,’ but yet he’s constantly trying to upset me.”
Liam’s lifestyle was cause for concern
Maya also recalled that when she announced the novel based on her relationship with Liam, her friends warned her not to publish it.
She claims that at least one friend warned her that if “something happened” to Liam it would be her fault.
“I know the kind of lifestyle he lives, and there will come a day when something bad is going to happen, so I’ll always say, ‘Okay, he’s saying these things, I have to help him because if I If I don’t do this, I will win. If anything happens to him, I won’t be able to live with myself,” Maya recalled.
Liam’s legal troubles
according to PeopleLiam received a cease-and-desist letter from Maya’s lawyers just days before her death.
A source told the outlet that Liam was extremely overwhelmed by all the legal issues involving his ex-husband in the final days of his life.
according to The Daily Mail (via Page Six), the letter was sent “following the emergence of new and concerning information”.
Obviously, there’s still a lot we don’t know about Liam’s life and his final days.
But based on comments from Maya Henry and others, it looks like the former 1D star was not in a good place.
