Detroit Lions fans were left with a scare when star edge rusher Aiden Hutchinson broke his tibia during the team’s 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys last night.
The scene at AT&T Stadium went from celebratory to scary in an instant, with Aidan injuring his left leg while sacking the Cowboys QB.
Immediately after the tackle, both the Lions and Cowboys players rallied around Aiden as he sought medical attention. Soon after, his family, including his sisters, joined him.
One noticeably absent person in Aiden’s life is his girlfriend, and many are wondering if that’s because he doesn’t actually have that title anymore.
Is addon Hutchinson okay?
On October 15, Aidan suffered a left foot injury during a game in which he sacked Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
The scene was horrific, as Aiden’s leg was broken above the ankle when it collided with teammate Aleem McNeil’s left leg as Hutchinson pulled Prescott down.
As soon as the team doctor ran towards Aidan, players from both the teams immediately started circling around Aidan on the field. His leg was placed in an air cast and he walked out of the stadium on a cart to thunderous applause.
After the game ended, the Lions released a statement confirming that Aiden had immediate surgery at a Dallas-area hospital.
Official diagnosis? Broken tibia, or better known as shin bone. It is the second longest bone in your body and when it breaks, it becomes very difficult to even walk, let alone play football.
In truth, this could mean that Aiden will be out for the rest of the season.
Players, family and fans rally around him – but where is his girlfriend?
As soon as Aidan left the field, support started pouring in from all sides.
Social media was flooded with fans wishing him well.
Lions running back David Montgomery told the press after the game what a devastating moment it was for everyone who loved Aiden.
“It is an unfortunate loss for us. A big, big, big blow for us and it becomes more personal for us now because of the kind of guy Aiden is and the kind of character he has and what he brings to the locker room and this team,” Montgomery said. . “So, I know personally, I’m going to take it really personal for a guy like Aiden because he was the heartbeat of this team, and he still will be.”
Meanwhile, Aidan’s sisters Mia and Aria asked for prayers from fans via their Instagram Stories. They both shared photos of their professional brother and considering how close they are, we have no doubt that they’re supporting him as much as they can.
But someone conspicuously absent from the conversation about Aidan’s injury was his girlfriend Alivia Callaghan. He was not seen in the game, nor has he posted anything on social media about his injury. In fact, fans noticed that her feed may actually be proof that she and Aiden are indeed no longer an item.
Who is Alivia Callaghan?
Alivia Rose Callaghan is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan. She reportedly studied advertising with a minor in business and is actually originally from the Michigan area.
Aiden and Alivia have been a couple since early 2022, they officially revealed their relationship to the world via social media in April 2023. Fans have noticed that Alivia constantly shows up for Aidan while he is on the football field and shares a strong bond with his family.
But while their social media platforms were filled with happy photos of the couple over the years, a look at Alivia’s Instagram proves that hasn’t been the case recently. In fact, as far as we can tell, the last photo they posted together was in January 2024.
Additionally, the last time any of his family members interacted with one of his posts was in May 2024, when he graduated from school. Aidan’s sister Mia called Alivia a “queen with degrees”.
Could everyone be reading too much into this? Absolutely. Social media activity is not an infallible way to assess any situation.
Still, it feels weird to go from 0-60 and then back to 0 again. And not posting about Aiden’s injury when the rest of his family hasn’t still feels weird.
But time should reveal everything: Aidan’s position on the field and in love.
