Cody Brown’s COVID rules: Strict or necessary?

Take a brief journey through 2020 and the 16th season with us sister Wives,

Being in a plural family meant that more than 20 people, ranging in age from infant to adult, had to face new restrictions like social distancing and masking.

Under the guise of wanting to make everyone feel “safe”, Kody asked the entire family to follow a strict set of guidelines. Janelle called them “Cody’s 10 billion commandments” at the time.

This included everything from not leaving the house to cleaning mail with alcohol wipes.

Now, while we applaud Kody for taking the situation seriously, it was argued by fans and his family alike that his restrictions were for a few people in the family, not the entire family.

While Meri, Janelle, and Christine were separated from Kody, Robyn got months of quality time with Kody, as did her kids.

Things eventually got so bad that Jenelle and her older boys were ordered out of the family home by Kody because they couldn’t follow the rules.

rift between garrison and cody

One of those kids whose relationship with their father essentially ended during COVID was Garrison.

At the time, Kody expressed anger when his and his second wife Janelle’s son called him and accused him of being too extreme with his COVID protocols.

“The truth is, in this environment, I just want to protect my kids, especially my little kids, from getting COVID,” Kody explained during an episode, referencing the young children he shares with Robyn. Trying to save.”

Kody went so far as to accuse Garrison of spreading COVID to all of Jenelle’s children, Jenelle and Garrison’s own girlfriend.

As a result of the fight, Garrison and Cody refused to speak to each other and this remained the case until Garrison died in the winter of 2024.

Kody Admits His Rules Ruined His Family – But He’s Sticking To It

It takes a lot for Kodi to admit that it was wrong – unless you’re offering straight up cash, in which case it admits its mistakes for the low, low price of $99.

In this case, for some reason only they know, a fan of Cody’s paid the price in exchange for recording a video for the Sister Wives star to come on Cameo.

Referencing the very strict rules put in place a year ago in the face of a deadly pandemic, Cody actually admitted in the footage that he’s “struggling.”

“I don’t even know what to say [COVID] Not anymore,” Cody says in the video.

“I feel that my treatment is worse than the disease. It’s just a personal thing… I’m second-guessing myself, which I probably shouldn’t be doing at this point in time.”

Oh no, you should.

Are you isolating your children and declaring that they are not allowed to spend time with you? This is very bad.

“This whole thing, it’s been almost two years,” Cody continued in his latest Cameo, adding as a message to the person who ordered the clip:

“Anyway, hang in there. We all have to do this. We all need to hang in there.”

This is true.

Cody can’t be blamed too much for taking every possible safety precaution, but when he got out of control, even Jenelle told him to leave.

“I know the boys have made a lot of allegations about me and they are false,” Robyn said. sister Wives Cameras at that time.”

Janelle and Christine’s kids collectively felt that Kody used COVID to choose one family to settle down with, instead of spreading himself among his four wives. They felt that he chose Robin and in turn, he insisted on very strict Covid rules.

But Robin insists that this is a lie.

“I don’t have that kind of power over Cody. And if I had done that, I certainly wouldn’t have chosen what we’ve had to go through with COVID,” she said. “I would have liked for us to sit down and come to an agreement about how to handle Covid together as a family. If I had ‘the power’ that they think I have, this is what I would have done.

A fair point, and we also think, given how much Robyn tries to provide for the family, that if she had the power, she would have kept Kody with her daughter Ysabel when her spine broke during the pandemic. Surgery would have been necessary.

Cody flatly refused to travel with him to undergo the operation. This decision destroyed their relationship and ended his marriage to Christine.

Shortly after, Jenelle was forced to divorce due to her inability to repair her relationship with her children.

(This doesn’t actually apply to this story per se, but as a justification, Meri and Kody also split a year after that. Now Kody is just with Robyn.)

Cody admitted his mistake, but did not change

Fast forward to 2024, and the 19th season sister Wives Shows where Kodi is today.

The episodes were filmed in late 2022, well before the death of his son Garrison. In the third episode, Cody admits that he regrets leaving Ysabel and forcing the boys to move out.

However, he has yet to repair any of his relationships with his children which were affected.

In fact, it does not seem that he was able to repair his relationship with Garrison before his demise.

“We could have talked more,” Cody said, breaking his silence on Garrison’s passing.

“I would get texts, things like that, and we, in retrospect, we could have done a lot more. And it was almost like – I’m busy with my life, he’s busy with his life, and when we connect, we’ll connect.

What a shame
