Drake Hogestyn’s cause of death confirmed, it’s so sad


We have an update on the tragic passing of Drake Hogestyn.

As previously reported, the beloved soap opera actor passed away in late September at the age of 70.

Hogestyn was best known for playing John Black on Days of Our Lives for nearly four decades.

Now, in the meantime, we can report that Hogestyn died of pancreatic cancer.According to the death certificate obtained by People magazine.

Other factors contributing to their death include vomiting, dehydration, and toxicity throughout the body.

The actor was cremated at the Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley and no autopsy was performed following his death.

“With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Drake Hogestyn,” read a statement from the Hogestyn family, which was posted on the Days of Our Lives Instagram account nearly two weeks ago.

“After fighting an incredible fight, he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.”

The actor’s family also expressed condolences for their loved one, stating for the record how Hogestyn was a memorable performer and someone who meant a lot to his family and the cast, crew and production team of Days of Our Lives.

“He was the most amazing husband, father, papa and actor,” the message said.

“He loved performing for the DAYS audience and sharing the stage with the greatest cast, crew and production team in the business. We love him and we will miss him all the days of our lives.

Hogestyn made his debut on Days of Our Lives in 1986 in a mysterious role called “The Pawn”, although he became a favorite through the character of John Black.

The star and former costar Deirdre Hall, who played Marlena Evans, earned a Soap Opera Digest Award for Favorite Couple in 2005.

“Drake was an incredible guy. He was funny, generous and thoughtful,’ co-worker Allison Sweeney wrote on Instagram.

“He cared about every scene, every person. He loves Days, the fans and shares that passion with everyone on the set. My heart breaks for his family, they were everything to him. He was a huge part of my life in Days.

“I will miss her dearly and cherish every story, every joke and every hug.”
