Woodpecker Identification Masked Season This has fans wondering, but there are a few clues that will point us all in the right direction.
12th season of The Masked Singer The show, which opens Sept. 25, will feature five new contestants: a front-runner named Ship, a buffalo dressed as a cowboy and a dazzling showstopper called the Woodpecker.
So, who is the celebrity behind this gorgeous mask? Let’s find out!
Who Is the Woodpecker in ‘The Masked Singer’?
Prior to the premiere, fans had very little information about Woodpecker’s identity. Knowing he would appear in the premiere episode, enthusiastic detectives began to scrutinize the costume for any available clues.
And fans already knew pretty much everything before he even took the stage.
Oh yes, the first clue is that Woodpecker is a “woman”. In one of the early promos, Woodpecker can be heard singing the song “I Need a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler, accompanied by a bright red tractor. With the aid of autotune, it clearly sounds like a woman’s voice.
Which brings us to the second thing about her – she’s bound to make it to at least Footloose week. That particular song was one of the breakout tracks from the movie soundtrack, and we suspect they’ll have Woodpecker sing it before theme week.
But there’s one more clue to consider for us to make our guess…
Who is the woodpecker? Hints, clues and guesses
New this season will be that clues will be “strategically embedded in costumes, song choices and on-stage moments.”
Could the black and red colour scheme of Woodpecker’s outfit be leading us in the right direction? What about the song he chose for premiere night?
So far, here are the best guesses about who Woodpecker is:
China Anne McClain
Now, if you don’t know who she is, you probably don’t have kids and you’re not watching the new age DCOM movies like you should! China Anne is one of the breakout stars of the Descendants movies, playing Ursula’s daughter Uma.
But he also played a superhero on a CW show black LightningWhich might explain their song choice for Footloose week.
At the moment, that’s everyone’s best guess!

Putting aside the most famous cartoon version, woodpeckers are considered symbols of resilience and resourcefulness. Both of those things can be said about this other Disney darling, who is reinventing herself in the crazy industry that is Hollywood. She started out with her own series, Austin & Ally, on the Disney Channel, and now has a permanent spot in Netflix romantic-comedies.
Speaking of romance, her most recent, publicly known relationship was with Thomas McKean, a professional musician, but they broke up during the pandemic. Since then, she has remained single.
Be patient, girl!
