Gayle King sues Oprah Winfrey over Diddy: Rumor and truth

Did Gayle King sue Oprah over Diddy case?

Even before the horrific details of the Diddy indictment were known to the public, there was speculation about who else knew.

Many people wonder who knew. Some theories make more sense than others.

What prompted Gayle to sue her old friend Oprah, and what connection might it have to Diddy? The answer is actually pretty simple.

Did Gayle sue Oprah over this whole Diddy thing?

Short answer: no.

Long answer:

A rumor began to spread after Diddy’s arrest on September 16. We’ll discuss it. Original In a moment, because this is important.

Rumor had it that Gayle King had filed a lawsuit against Oprah Winfrey. The alleged lawsuit stemmed from criminal charges against Diddy, though details were scant.

this rumor is totally false Three Major ways. The first is that, again, Gayle is not suing Oprah over the Diddy matter.

Second, Gayle has not filed a lawsuit against Oprah over anything, Diddy-related or otherwise.

And perhaps the most important part of this is that neither Gayle King nor Oprah Winfrey have anything to do with any of Diddy’s alleged crimes. The implication of the lawsuit rumor is that one or both of these respected women were somehow aware of or involved in the massive racketeering and sex trafficking case.

Where did this malicious rumor originate from?

Snopes Source of bizarre claims about Gayle, Oprah and Diddy traced.

To no one’s surprise, the claim came from Facebook. Once a gathering place for college students, the social media giant has become a favorite marketplace for exchanging conspiracy theories, misinformation and more, lacking official control.

An investigation found that a Facebook page whose moderators live in Indonesia was spreading the false claim.

Presumably, this is some sort of content farming – releasing false stories to attract attention and get specific clicks and thus make money.

Why Oprah and Gayle? First and foremost, they are extremely famous and their friendship spans decades.

Additionally, QAnon and other conspiracy theorists believe that nearly every rich or powerful person in the world is involved in a human trafficking conspiracy that involves demons (or aliens, depending on who you ask), takes a mythical drug that keeps them young, and more.

What are the charges against Diddy?

The Diddy allegations are a perfect opportunity for hoaxers to lure naïve conspiracy theorists into believing everyone from Kim Kardashian to Justin Bieber may have been high on adrenochrome at Diddy’s parties (which, unlike rich men abusing women, is not a real thing).

Authorities arrested Diddy on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He allegedly used his “power and prestige” to exploit women in 2008. If convicted, he faces at least 15 years in prison.

Gayle King and Oprah Winfrey aren’t involved in any of these. Obviously. But the opportunity to make money off of Facebook while defaming two old celebrity besties? Apparently, some people can’t pass that up.
