Meghan Markle vs Kate Middleton: Who is the most popular royal?

The Meghan Markle vs. Kate Middleton feud has been going on for several years.

The question of when beef originated is a subject of widespread debate.

Some say the two duchesses disliked each other from day one. Others say the war began when the two had a fight over Meghan’s wedding preparations.

Whatever the case, a new survey shows that Meghan is no challenger to Kate when it comes to popularity in the UK.

Meghan vs Kate: A royal popularity contest

According to a new survey conducted by Ipsos, Kate is currently the most popular royal among UK residents.

66% of respondents reported having positive feelings towards Kate, while only 10% expressed an unfavorable opinion of the Princess of Wales.

The results are not surprising, as Kate’s courage during her battle with cancer has endeared her to millions of people.

The news also comes as no surprise given that Prince William is the second most popular royal, with a favorability rating of 65% and an unfavorability rating of 13%.

Princess Anne, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth, came in third with a 62% favorability rating and an unfavorability score of just 9%.

King Charles, who is also battling cancer, came in fourth with a 56% favourability score.

But as you might have guessed by now, Charles’ estranged son and his wife didn’t fare so well in the polls.

Harry and Meghan’s poor performance

Only 28% of British citizens think positively of Prince Harry, while a staggering 46% think negatively of him.

And the situation is even worse for Meehan, who has a favorability rating of 21% and an unfavorability rating of 53%.

Only embattled Prince Andrew fared worse, with just 10% of Britons positive towards him, compared to 66% who were unfavourable.

Apparently, on the other side of the pond, Will and Kate are on the rise, while Harry and Meghan’s gradual decline has picked up speed.

Overall, British people expressed positive feelings about the royal family, with only 23% believing it would be better for Britain if the monarchy were abolished.

In contrast, 44% of people believe that the condition of the country would become worse if this institution was abolished.

“This latest survey paints a picture of the enduring fascination with the royal family,” said Gideon Skinner, senior director for UK politics at Ipsos. New York Post,

“It is also notable that more than half of Britons believe King Charles is performing his role well, and only a minority want to end the monarchy, indicating stability in the image of the royal family.”

The survey didn’t ask what Britons think of the idea of members of the royal family stepping down and moving to the US. But we think we can guess how respondents might answer that question!
