According to People Magazine, which obtained a petition for protection from abuse on March 22, 2017 … Strader was accused of breaking into an ex-girlfriend’s home seven years ago that same month.

The unnamed woman said in the document that she and Strader had “recently broken up” and that when she returned to her home she found it “burglarized.”

The official who finalized the affidavit noted that the responding officer claimed the woman’s bedroom was the only place “that was searched.”

Specifically, a jewelry box had been ransacked, and “there was a broken bottle of perfume, a makeup tray was thrown out, and a diamond necklace was stolen during the burglary.”

Strader reportedly purchased the necklace for his ex-wife.

Around the same time, the woman filed a contempt of court case against Strader because he had violated a restraining order against her “multiple times,” based on a show-cause ruling obtained by People magazine.

Strader won the most recent season of The Bachelorette, accepting Jane Tran’s proposal.

However, the couple broke up around two months after filming as Strader said his feelings had changed and he was unsure about the pairing’s future.

Tran said Strader also dumped her over the phone and immediately began following a former Bachelor paramour named Maria Georgas on Instagram.

Strader, who was once arrested for DWI, allegedly set fire to the street near his ex-girlfriend’s home in 2017 and “burned down what appeared to be an actual restraining order,” based on the aforementioned document.

The woman claimed Strader then sent her emails, called her multiple times a day and even came to her door.

“I cannot live my life with him as he continues to contact me despite the restraining order,” she alleged in the show-cause notice, which was signed by her domestic violence lawyer.

Strader was ultimately charged with criminal trespassing, and was ordered to pay $500, complete 30 hours of community service and attend the “Court’s Effective Decision-Making School,” according to the conditions document.

However, one might wonder how he ended up on The Bachelorette .

A source close to the franchise told People that the show takes contestants’ “safety” “very seriously” and that they “make every effort to take the utmost precautions.”

The insider further stated that the protective order against Strader did not turn up in any background search despite their “extensive vetting process.”
