“I would have made the team”

Although LeBron James might be the greatest basketball player of all time, there was a time when he was also an amazing soccer player. He didn’t end up playing soccer beyond the high school level since he didn’t go to college, but James has said that he, too, could have been an elite soccer player.

James said the Dallas Cowboys offered him a tryout in 2011 and he seriously considered going out and trying out. This didn’t end up happening though, but it’s fun to think about.

In an interview with The Athletic, LeBron James said:

“I would have made the team. I would have tried, but I would have made the team. One thing about that, I don’t mind working for something, so if I had to try out for the Cowboys or Seahawks, or stayed home and went back to Cleveland, I would have given it a try. (out), but would have made the team.

“I only know what I am capable of doing on the soccer field. Especially at that age.”

Obviously, playing high school football is much different than playing in the NFL or even at the college level. James probably could have played at a high level in college considering the kind of success he found in high school, but he’s not 100% sure he was going to have much success playing soccer at the Division I level. .

However, it certainly raises the question of what LeBron James would have looked like at the NFL level.

What is known is that he is one of the athletes with the best physical shape in the world, and even of all time. The reason he finds this kind of success every year, even at 38, is because of what he does for his body. He continues to work hard and once said that he invests $1 million per year in his body.

This is clearly a huge what-if scenario in the sports world, but it certainly would have been awesome to see LeBron James take the football field and show what he’s got. If it was anything like him as a basketball player, we might as well have seen one of the greatest soccer players of all time.
