Judge Mathis’ wife, Linda, filed for divorce on Aug. 22, citing what she called “irreconcilable differences” and asking the court for spousal support.
It was a simple request, but seeing fans’ need for answers, the internet went crazy searching for the reason behind the couple’s split. After all, no one ends a marriage after 40 years without some major problems.
Of course, as is the case with most celebrity couples, speculation arose that someone was being unfaithful, namely Judge Mathis.
But not only that, as rumors grew stronger that he had strayed, the story turned to cheating and secret love children!
Yes, a “side baby” narrative began to take hold. That is, people began talking about Judge Mathis’s child born from an extramarital affair.

Judge Mathis breaks silence on ‘side baby’ allegations and divorce
After first remaining silent about the grounds for his recusation, Judge Mathis spoke out a few days ago. TMZ And in the process a few things were made clear:
- The couple is still living under the same roof.
- He is determined to get Linda back and remain married.
- And, no, he did not commit adultery.
“This is the worst day of my life,” Mathis told the celebrity gossip website at the airport on August 30.
He took responsibility for the break-up, saying:
“Maybe I’ll be an example to some other guy – a cautionary tale. Don’t neglect your wife. It happens, guys.”
Mathis even admitted that he could understand why his wife might suspect he was hanging out with another woman, though he denied that was actually the case.
“Neglect can definitely raise suspicion,” Mathis told TMZ.
“If you went the same way I did, he has every right to be suspicious. You go to work, and you go across the country to serve the community.
“Then, you go to sporting events around the country with your friends and you go to other events without your wife. She would have a right to suspect infidelity.”
However, for more clarity?
“That’s not the reason,” he said.

Judge Mathis has two daughters with Linda — Jade, 40, and Camara, 36, and sons — Greg Jr., 35, and Amir, 34.
It looks like this is a family worth fighting for — and according to TV Honor, that’s exactly what he plans to do!
“I promised to spend more time at home and make my wife more of a priority, but as you can see, I haven’t done that,” Mathis told TMZ. “I’m still on the road and doing the same thing in terms of going out and moving to another city.”
However, Mathis concluded by saying he is determined to right all romantic wrongs, stating in clear terms during a conversation with TMZ:
“I’m getting my wife back.”
