Jax Taylor has revealed some very personal, and at times, quite painful, things.
On Sept. 2, the longtime Bravo personality wrote on Instagram that he had recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.
Taylor also admitted that dealing with her diagnosis has been an “emotional” process for her over the past several weeks.
“About a month ago, I was admitted to an intensive inpatient treatment center because I was so scared I might lose something about myself,” Taylor wrote online alongside a black-and-white photo of herself.
“After many years of knowing something was wrong but not really knowing what it was, I recently found out I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.”
Taylor found fame on the small screen as a cast member on “Vanderpump Rules” and is now helping run the spinoff “The Valley.”
He and Brittany Cartwright have filed for divorce after five years of marriage.
Taylor further said on Monday:
“This has been an extremely difficult and emotional time for me, however I have returned home to my son with a new sense of peace.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared about the future, but my focus is just trying to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday.
“Mental health is a lifelong struggle in which you have to not let it control you, but rather learn to control it.”
Taylor spent 30 days at the facility last July and August.
“Jax has always been open about his mental health struggles, especially over the last few months on his podcast,” a rep for the reality star told People magazine on July 30.
“He has decided to be admitted to hospital and receive treatment. This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family.
“He asks for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak further on this matter.”
In her filing, Cartwright stated the couple’s separation date as Jan. 24 and wrote “irreconcilable differences” as the basis for their separation. She is also seeking legal and physical custody of 3-year-old son Cruz.
Britney broke down in tears last week at the mention of divorce, while Taylor has yet to say anything about it publicly.
