Brittany Cartwright is moving on with her life.
But that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
As previously reported, the Bravo personality has filed for divorce from Jax Taylor after nearly five years of marriage.
He did so a few months after the couple separated.
“It’s been a big week,” Cartwright admitted on the Aug. 30 episode of her and Jax’s joint podcast, “When Reality Hits,” which was the first time she commented on the legal split.
As a dedicated reality star, Cartwright teased The Valley Season 2:
“Unfortunately I can’t go into detail because everything has already been documented on the show since we’re still filming.
“You’ll see how everything plays out after the show airs, but I will say this: This season has been the hardest season I’ve ever had.”
Cartwright and Taylor have filmed their relationship on camera, but Taylor says it’s still a challenge to have such a private matter seen publicly:
“I never imagined I would go through something so personal and painful and have the whole world watch. I’m not saying this to offend anyone, but I know this is the life I chose and I’m very blessed in so many ways. I always want to be truthful with you all.”
Taylor had cheated Cartwright before, but the two worked things out.
This time, we can’t say for sure if infidelity played a role in the divorce.
One thing is for sure, Britney stressed on this podcast: The divorce is not a publicity stunt.
“My decision to file suit was not made lightly or in a hurry. It took me many years to get to this point where I gained enough courage and strength to do what was best for myself, pull myself out of a toxic relationship and ultimately understand my worth,” she said.
“It’s been very hard, but I’m stronger than ever… My motivation is my son, my Cruzie, who deserves a happy and healthy mom.
“Moving forward, Jacques and I will be doing the podcasts separately.”
Cartwright and Taylor married in 2019 and have a three-year-old son, Cruz.
Taylor spoke to US Weekly about the breakup in March, denying that she was dating anyone, saying:
“I want people to know that it’s possible to co-parent, run a business and be okay with each other.
“Not everyone gets divorced just because he cheated. Believe it or not, that wasn’t the case. I know it’s shocking. We just aren’t talking and that’s it…
“We’re taking some time for ourselves.”
