Fans on social media became concerned when rumors began to spread that something had happened to Mariah’s only sister, Alison, on Saturday, August 24.
Now, the singer has confirmed this sad news and shared some details.

“I am heartbroken to have lost my mother last weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister also died on the same day,” he said.
“I feel so blessed to have been able to spend the last week with my mother before she passed away,” Mariah said. “I appreciate everyone’s love, support and respect for my privacy during this difficult time.”
The cause of death is not yet known
At the time of the announcement, no details were shared to explain how or why the two important women in Mariah’s life died.
From her statement we can infer that at least her mother was suffering from some sort of illness that caused Maria to turn to her.
However, there have been no reports as to what might cause this illness.
