With Derek Carr signing with the New Orleans Saints, the New York Jets are expected to bet on Aaron Rodgers this offseason. The Green Bay Packers quarterback has yet to make a decision about his future, but it may come soon.
Although the Jets can no longer afford to get close to Carr, Chris Broussard believes they should stay away from Rodgers and go after Lamar Jackson instead.
This is what Chris Broussard had to say on “First Things First”:
“I know you don’t think Aaron Rodgers will take them to the Super Bowl. So why should I pay him $60 million to do that? I think what they should do is wait and see what the Ravens do with Lamar Jackson.
“If they put him on the non-exclusive label, go ahead and guarantee him a full contract and bring him to New York.”
There is a very high possibility that Lamar Jackson will be placed with a non-exclusive tag and it is surely a sign of his departure from the Baltimore Ravens.
Teams like the New York Jets or the Atlanta Falcons can simply get Jackson by offering him two first-round picks. Jackson is much younger than Rodgers and has many years ahead of him, so Chris Broussard believes it would be the best decision for the Jets.
The clock is ticking for the Jets and they need to make a quick decision on who their starting quarterback will be next season.
Aaron Rodgers needs to make a decision soon
Aaron Rodgers needs to make his decision very soon. Free agency is about to begin, and the Green Bay Packers would love to get some clarity on their QB situation before they start making moves for next season.
They are ready to move on.
He #packers hope quarterback Aaron Rodgers *won’t* want to return to Green Bay, according to @RichEisenShow who said he heard it “over and over again” in Indianapolis. They are ready to move on. https://t.co/fp1YPwXEQX
If Rodgers decides to leave the Packers, Jordan Love is ready to take his place and the team has full faith in him. Rodgers retreated into the dark to clear his mind before making the crucial decision, and hopefully the four-time NFL MVP will make the best decision possible.
The Jets still have Rodgers as their top priority, but it will be interesting to see if they change their aspirations in the coming weeks.
