Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay has been one of the best cornerbacks in football in recent years. Drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2013, Slay didn’t make his first Pro Bowl until the 2017 season, but he’s gotten better since then.

This season, he was named a Pro Bowler while managing the Eagles secondary, which was the top-ranked unit in the NFL.

Slay has recorded 55 tackles, 14 pass breakups and three interceptions this season. He thought he did enough to be named an All-Pro and talked about it on “The Volume”:

“Got to address another problem. Come on man, who’s watching the movie with the All-Pro list? Who’s watching it? How do I get voted All-Pro by the players in the league who play the game? , but not getting All-Pro from the media? Like what else do I need to be doing there. You know what I’m saying.

“That could have been pretty cool on my résumé. Five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, I would have accepted second team. I’m going to give credit where it’s due. Best cornerback in the game, right?” Now, today is Pat Surtain. And after Pat, I think I’m right there at number 2 right now, 2 or 3.

“They need to fix that kind of voting. We need to get more players involved in this All-Pro stuff, because this doesn’t make sense. All the guys that are on the roster were really, really fun, but come on, man, I was in No. 1 pass defense, I made the Pro Bowl, we were the best secondary in the league. They’re playing in my gold jacket.”

Will Darius Slay be a Hall of Famer one day?

Being snubbed from the All-Pro team will take a small hit to Slay’s NFL resume. He concluded in his tirade that not making All-Pro will hurt his chances of making the Hall of Fame.

Slay began his career in 2013, but was not named a Pro Bowler until the 2017 season. He was named a first-team All-Pro that same season.

He made the Pro Bowl the next two seasons and again in 2021 and 2022.

In his career, he has four defensive touchdowns, 26 interceptions, four fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and 513 tackles.
