We have an update on the tragic death of Johnson Panettiere.
As previously reported, the 28-year-old brother of actress Hayden Panettiere was found dead in New York last week.
At the time this news was made public, no cause of death had been announced and/or confirmed.
But now we know what happened.
A week after this horrifying development, Panettiere’s loved ones paid tribute to the latest artist and actor through a moving message.
“Janssen’s heart could be seen in his eyes, and his charm in his brilliant, charming smile; His soul in his exquisite and revealing paintings, and the joy of life in his dry wit,” Hayden — accompanied by mom Leslie Vogel and dad Skip Panettiere — said in a Feb. 27 statement.
“His charisma, warmth, compassion for others, and his creative spirit will live on forever in our hearts and in the hearts of all those he encountered.”
In this, according to Johnson’s family, the cause of death has been revealed.
“Although it provides little consolation, the medical examiner reported that Janssen’s sudden demise was caused by cardiomegaly (enlarged heart) associated with aortic valve complications,” the statement continued.
Hayden and his parents thanked those who reached out to offer condolences for the loss of their beloved relative.
“We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love and support from our family as we navigate this unimaginable loss, and ask that we be granted the gift of our privacy during this time of grief,” they write.
“We love you very much, Janssen, and you will always be in our hearts.”
Panettiere died on Sunday, February 19, at her residence in Nyack, New York.
Based on the police report, a friend became concerned after Johnson failed to show up for a business meeting.
After officers were called to the scene, he was found “sitting upright in a chair unresponsive”.
According to the report, “there were no obvious signs of trauma”, and Jansen was pronounced dead after first responders attempted CPR.
Just two days before his passing, Jansen shared his final Instagram post… a photo of what appeared to be girlfriend Catherine Michie next to a colorful painting.
Mickey honored Jansen in a message on his Instagram on February 19.
“Janssen, I only met you a year ago, but you have been my best friend and biggest fan,” she wrote.
“I will never forget the first time I saw your face and the first words you said to me. Words cannot express the pain of knowing that I will never hear your laugh again.
“I hope you find peace, and I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me most.
“The world is better because you were in it. I know we will paint together again someday. I will always be your Sugarpop. Someone wake me up and say it was a dream.
