The Elite have been mainstays on AEW television since returning to action following their suspension. They were in action on the recent episode of Rampage and after their match, the House of Black took on the EVPs. The segment was criticized by former WWE manager Dutch Mantell.

The Young Bucks took on the Australian Open at the AEW Rampage opener in a high-octane clash. After delivering a BTE Trigger to Kyle Fletcher, the reigning AEW Trios Champions emerged victorious. The lights went out and the House of Black surrounded the ring.

At Sportskeeda Wrestling’s speak of blowDutch Mantell criticized the segment for not having more story behind it.

“My question is, how long has this been booked up, these two teams? It looks like they would have done something before this. And then this could be completed somewhere. I don’t know what Tony is doing or who is helping him, but he almost got it.” has become a hit. It’s almost shooting it as it goes. It needed something because when the lights went out, people were drawn to it. It was actually pretty good. They wait for someone to come. When it happened, the second time , there’s no meat. It’s just a coincidence,” Dutch Mantell said. (54:45 – 56:18)

Dutch Mantell went on to talk about AEW’s Rampage segment

Former Zebb Colter went on to talk about the segment, stating that even if the eventual clash between the two factions will be a good one, it takes a good story behind it to sell tickets.

“Big matches don’t really sell tickets. Big matches are great to start with, then you complete the story and you have a story. The match can be less than perfect, actually much less than perfect, as long as you’re following your story.” continued Dutch Mantell. (56:24 – 56:45)

Shortly after Rampage, it was confirmed that House of Black will challenge Elite for the AEW Trios Championship at the upcoming Revolution pay-per-view.

In addition to the Young Bucks vs Aussie Open, there were three other matches at AEW Rampage. Lance Archer destroyed Bryce Saturn in his return to ring action alongside Jake Roberts.

Toni Storm defeated Willow Nightingale while Sammy Guevara dispatched Action Andretti in the main event.
