Jace has been living under the roof of her grandmother Barbara since birth.
As MTV viewers are well aware, since Janelle’s time on the aforementioned franchise, Barbara has successfully defeated her daughter in court on multiple occasions whenever Evans tried to gain custody of Jace.
The longtime reality star lost custody for the first time due to a history of substance abuse.
However, now?
Based on legal paperwork obtained by The Ashley, Barbara has Your wish agreed to give custody of Jace back to Janelle.
There was a court hearing in North Carolina earlier this week for “custody modifications” regarding Janelle and Jess’ father, Andrew Lewis, though it’s unclear whether the latter was in attendance.
Barbara has retained an attorney for this case… but does not oppose the custody modification in any way at this time.
“Jess has become too much for Barbara to handle. That’s the main reason she’s allowing Janelle to get custody,” a source tells Ashley.
Janelle has shared custody of the young man over the years, as her relationship with Barbara has gone through many ups and downs.
In a series of Instagram Stories posted last October, Janelle addressed a fan’s comment that read, “Jess was always there to be with Barb.”
“Comments like this are exactly the reason I don’t want to share my life anymore,” Jenelle said, telling followers:
“Don’t believe everything you see on your TV screen, or [are] Hearing from third parties. ,
That same month, Janelle trashes her mother and accuses her of stealing Jace.
“Someone took my baby, didn’t give me a chance to raise my baby, and then kicked me out, took my baby because she was jealous of the guy I was dating at the time, Evans said at the time.
“Let’s look at the real reason why I got kicked out and came home, and all my stuff was out in the middle of the yard.
“I, as a parent, would never do this to my children.”
Janelle said she felt as if her mother had “replaced” her with Jess and that Barbara did not have a “right” to take the boy.
We cannot properly talk about what has changed since then.
But Evans indicated on Facebook this week that a significant change was on tap.
“I am about to achieve the unimaginable and can’t wait to share the news with everyone,” she wrote on Tuesday.
